Ok, I've had it on good authority that some people on here know about Ipods. What I need to know is that if I download music from another site (NOT itunes store) I can see that music in my itunes on one thing called LIMEWIRE tunes - it's not in the library with the rest of my stuff and I don't seem to be able to load it onto my ipod.
Can anyone help me please?
Jo x

in itunes go to file|add folder to library
This will recursively add the folder (and everything in it!) to your itunes library. easy really.
As for moving to a laptop, just burn all tunes to a CD and copy from the CD onto the laptop and do as above, unless you bought them from itunes then you'll need to deauthorise the old computer and authorise the new one lol

bring back grammephones
thats what i say

Althought the sound quality was clearly superior with the extra noises, they are sadly inconvenient for running

go to and download the software for your ipod. when you load it, it should wipe the ipod. I'm not certain of this one, but it might. also pressing play and menu will reset it, but I'm not sure if it wipes it for another computer biggrin
seems like they are more trouble than they are worth....... mad
Hello, your friendly neighborhood Ipod doc is here to help
first let's address the main question: transfer all the songs you downloaded from "limewire tunes" to your Itunes library. it's a simple as clicking on the "limewire tunes" playlist name, then in the right window (that lists the songs) ctrl + A selects all, then click and drag this list over the name "LIbrary" (make sure it's the ITUNES library folder) once you do that you can hook up the ipod and then once you see the ipod icon in the left nav, open it, and then you can select songs from your itunes library and drag them into your ipod library.
You can set up itunes to automatically import dl'd limewire songs into the library, but it'll take me some time to remember how to do that. You can PM me with any other quetions.
Second question: Bring your setup disks to work and load them in. Plug the ipod in after running the ipod start up disks. You can then use the same disk to wipe your ipod clean and start over again, but basically everytime you plug the ipod into a new computer - if it doesn't have ipod softward loaded into it alreayd (iTunes versions that recognize) you will have to do the same procedures as you did when you first go it. You also don't have to wipe it clean, once you set up this new computer to run itunes and recognize your ipod you can just load in new songs from that iTunes library But if you want to wipe it clean, you use the setup disks, when you first open up the disk you will see an option to revert the ipod back to factory settings - this means it'll wipe it squeaky clean.
NOTE: Ipods come locked so that you can't download songs from your ipood to your itunes libary or to other ipods. this is to prevent piracy. PC and Mac users can dl cracks to unlock it, but you have to use limewire or bitorrent etc to find the right crack for your operating system.
hope I've helped!!!!

mine is fantastic biggrin although I've not bought any music on the net, I refuse to while the DRM is on them. This could well be your problem if you paid for the tracks, as they are encrypted and might not allow you to add them.
alternatives are buy CDs the old fashioned way and let itunes handle converting them, or pirate the music. I know it sounds harsh to pirate the music, but at least the tracks will work with your ipod!
My iPod and iShuffle's are great - wouldn't be without them. BUT.. I don't download straight into iTunes or from the website.
I put all my music onto my hard drive and then just import into the library and drag it into my iPod. That way I don't have to have the synchronize option on and can move my music around the place. I can add or delete music manually to suit myself, though usually I just add to the iPod and then move whatever I want onto my favourites playlist.
So, sorry I can't help cos I don't download from iTunes website. It's best to use another site, that way your music is more manageable - I find!
:P
is that a nappy in your avatar ocky? wink
either way, very sexy
