now then, there have been threads for the "what's your favourite to fuck to?" and all that... but this is simply a requestion for information and pointers.
I'm in the mood for some new music...
I like something a little experimental.. electronics and ambient are good.
I've always been a bit of a metal/rock head, and very much enjoyed punk, goth and hippy stuff.
Music with a darker feel... moody, but not depressing.
"soundscapes"...
what have people heard that is "new" without being some upstart pop/dance/manufactured outfit?
all suggestions appreciated.
not just for me of course, but share your recent discoveries with everyone. Share the joy!

Have you checked out G N' R's Chinese Democracy?
Its the rock, but with a more "industrial" sound and some very impressive guitar sounds....
From what I gather it's a "Marmite" album. You either love it or hate it.
I for one Love it!!
I do like Marmite... however, I never really took to Chinese democracy... Apetite for Destruction was the benchmark.
my tip, for a change of pace to anyone who doesn't know them would be:

It depends what you class as new and what your tastes stretch to.
I can recommend bands as diverse as Pelican (instrumental 'post-rock'), Opeth (progressive death metal), Orange Goblin (NWOBHM influenced metal), Masters Of Reality (blues infused 60/70's style rock) and loads of others. All of the bands mentioned above have a recording history of at least 4 albums.
If I was allowed just one name, it would be Devin Townsend. His music runs the spetrum from blasting, face-ripping metal (with Strapping Young Lad) to prog metal and ambient solo stuff.
A lady on here introduced me to "acid croft music" not sure if it's on you tube haven't looked but try Shooglenifty and Martyn Bennet for starters and see where it takes you. :P
i'd recommend emilie autumn(dark n moody gothicy type)
had it mentioned to me by my as i call her pooky wierdo daughter ..skillet is a good alt rock band too
...things that you might like to bring to the attention of other whom may not have had the pleasure then... how does that sound?
