Apologies if this is defined as promoting an alternative site on SH but i'm just looking for advice smile
Hello all...
As a newbie I just wanted some advice... I recently replied to and ad on SH and this morning I recieved a mail from the lady in question directing me to the following site...
http://contacts-****. - please don't promote it here thanks
I've had a look and it appears to be very well populated, but they ask for a £5 subscription fee. I'm not averse to paying that for quality however I don't want to be led up the garden path so to speak.
Anybody had any dealings with this site before... the people on there all seem to be quite fit and attractive (that's why i'm suspicious... cynical me!)
Anyway, any info appreciated.
Cheers...

Fuck paying a £5 on the chance of a shag!! More chance going to your local red light district biggrin
I agree with fruity. Sod paying for the chance to maybe get laid, you might as well use this place or dating.
Out of interest were you directed to the site so you could see more pictures of the lady, or were you just told to go there and subsribe?
If it's the latter I'd say the mods would probably very interested in the ad. wink
Yep, we're interested. Can you let me or any mods know the ad number or email address please?

Would it be useful for SH to have a list of known scam sites/sites that ask a fee for things that would be free here, so we know who to avoid?
I wasted my time while signing up for a site (not one I found through SH, this was before I came here) that claimed to be free to advertise... and it was, but there was a fee to see any replies!
It probably is populated... with fake ads and timewasters.

There would be thousands out there, changing all the time and we wouldn't have the time to keep it updated. It really has to be down to the individual to realise what is a paysite and what isn't and realise that as soon as they ask for credit card details, you leave - simple as. But if it came from an ad on here, TELL US!! Then we can stop the ad and ban whoever put it on.

The majority of FREE sites and not FREE. They are FREE to create a profile. They are FREE to browse members. But when you want to actually send an email or contact anyone, you are asked to UPGRADE to Gold/Silver/Platinum/Pyrites memberships where for ONLY £18,000 a year, you can send UNLIMITED messages to members.
That's why SH is good. For all its flaws, it is genuinely free.
I have paid and paid the price for it,
stick with this one, it is worth every penny (joke) biggrin :D :D
I think it's really hard, no pun intended, when you are new to things. I am and I am just so wary of everything just being a rip off or everyone being fake.
I think it must take a long time to build up trust in systems and people.

Dahamsta is right this site exisits, and is being advertised on here, I got caught by it with a 55 year old women! as soon as I recieved the e-mail back , I went an found the site an found it was bogus

But did you tell a mod? we aren't psychic, you know. We need you to tell us if an ad leads to a paysite, so we can deal with it and protect others from being caught out by scams. Come on, guys, stop bleating about it on here as if every bloody ad leads to a paysite, put in proportion and tell us which ads or email addresses!!
Mal
But did you report the ad?

This is a spam e-mails and DO NOT pay anything to this site - I just checked this site over to IT Security at Macfee where I work and it appears that this is a spam e-mails and the internet is fake. DO NOT PAY this at any CIRCUMSTANCES.
I don't want you to lose your money.
Cheers

What flaws?
SH is the Ronseal of websites:
It does exactly what it says on the tin. biggrin
YES - BUT DID ANYONE REPORT THE FUCKING AD TO THE MODS ???????
Hi all, firstly apologies to the Mods for putting the full URL up on the original post... school boy error!
I've spent a few hours now trawling back through the ads and I can't find the original ad I responded to. The advertiser was based in Deal in Kent and is called Jacqueline... I hope that helps.
Anyway, i'm learning fast on here!
Happiness and health to you all.

What,s wrong with this site, it,s fun and friendly and free ( not that money matters), i,ve made lots of friends in s/h and not just for sex althought thats gr8 biggrin so we,re staying put .
 hump :swingingchair:
I suppose we should take it as compliment that we get so many people targetting us with spam nowadays. I believe that if you check out the web traffic charts this site is by far the biggest of it's kind and on top of that IT'S FREE.
If you were starting up your own two bit website which site would you decide to spam to get a bit of traffic? Yep, unfortunately this one.
It takes a joint effort to keep this site free of these people. It's not just down to the moderators it's down to all of us. If you come across any of this crap, be it in the ads section, the forum or the chatroom, then please tell a moderator or a chatroom operator and we'll get rid of it.
Steve
Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but there are quite a few of these ads about at the moment. They appear to use the hidden email respond form, so difficult to trace back.
