Apparantly a new form of worm has been released.

All Microsoft users (XP etc) should update their antivirus and perform a windows update ASAP.
According to professional sources the worm is spreading extremely quickly.
It is probably more important to run Windows Update as the worm exploits a bug in Windows.
If you're running a hookie copy of XP and can't run Windows Update - Thanks mad
Thanks for that easy!!!! wink
Quick Sarge grab it.
There it is.
Oh its gone.
Oh no, there it is again.
Damn he escaped.
Quick get a net. Damn.

OUCH that's going to smart in the morning.
Cheers for that im sorted now Easy. lol
Come on people, wake up. Microsoft has had a 'patch' for this since the 13th April.
I see the Coastguards's computers all went down today. Someone needs smackbottom for not updating their system.
I cannot understand why people don't have their computers set up so that they automatically search for Microsoft updates and updates for their Anti-Virus programmes as soon as they log on each day. Even logging onto Microsoft or your Anti-virus suppliers web site doesn't take long.
Get into the habit of doing it daily. Unfortunately those who have 'hookie' Windows programmes it might pay to 'cough up' and get it honestly. rolleyes

Harry,
Unfortunately it does now and again though very rare now-a-days with XP. Usually it's because there is a new DLL which is incompatible with a 3rd party driver. Scanners and cameras are great culprits!
I find that if you go on about a month later and do another update there's a fix for the fix confused
Microsoft usually produce updates once a month, unless there is a "critical". If you have Automatic Updates on you'll get the update when it is released (provided you're online of course).
Microsoft have released a checker for the Sasser worm. It checks your PC and tells you whether you have it or not.
I'm amazed so many swingers have worms ! ! !
makes you think ! ! confused
Its all this running about in bare feet in carparks... lol

Ok being the good girl that I am, I am bumping an old thread instead old creating a new one :smile2:
Now earlier I returned to my PC after having been away from it for about 20 minutes while I was devouring my lovely rib eye steak, egg and chips and went to type something in the chatroom when the feckin pc shutdown mad Now the bluddy thing just keeps re-starting every 60 seconds so it looks like a sasser worm has got through my firewall mad
I have tried using the -a command but my pc isn't loading up quickly enough to allow me to get all of the command in before the fecking thing shuts down again mad Edited to add as it is a new pc (only 2 months old) theorectically it should have the security update installed required for this worm....
So my question is how the bluddy hell can I get rid of this fecking worm???.....
Gratefully yours

Thanks Minx kiss but I have managed to get the PC to stay up long enough to try that and it says it doesn't have any of the worms listed there mad
Curiously though when I try to run Adaware it gets so far and then re-starts.... I really dont want to format it as I have photos on there that I havent saved to disc yet sad
Ah well... keep trying

I am now getting the blue screen crash and cant even get to start in safe mode.... It gets as far as Welcome and then dies sad
I give up..... Reformat here we come mad
I may be some time lol

Right click My Computer, choose properties, go to Advanced, choose startup and recovery. Take the tick out of restart.
Ahh, didn't see that it won't even get into Windows now.
That's a little odd for a virus!

Just that I've not come across any XP virus that prevents the PC getting into Windows. Plenty that stop it working properly, or restart it, but none that stop it fully loading, or stop it getting into safe mode.
Still, there's no harm in doing a full reinstall once every so often... So long as the data's backed up... cool

Fully re-formatted and back up and running now biggrin
Couldn't get to the data to back it up though sad
I have also unticked the auto restart box as well lol

Erm sorry I didn't spot this earlier - been decorating sad.
If you have a problem with a virus or worm start Windows in "Safe Mode" (press the F8 button when the little white lines go across the bottom of the screen on start up). Run your Antivirus, Adaware and Spybot in safe mode and they will usually knobble the little buggers.
Make sure you have Tea Timer switched on (part of Spybot) as that will stop the little buggers from altering your Registry.
Hiya JQL kiss
I couldn't even get it to load in safe mode sad I even tried the repair option which you get when you boot from th XP disc and that just threw a fit dunno
I thought it was the sasser worm but I did manage to get it to scan at one point and the windows programme said there was no evidence of a worm on the PC... So I am none the wiser....
Still its all working ok now having spent 5 hours tatting and the formatting and re-installing XP, downloading all the updates and re loading all my programme.... I am still peeved about loosing my pics though, ah well...
