Newbie or not Newbie, that is the question
Whether its Knobler (sic) in the mind to suffer the Swingers and arrows of outrageous fortune or just get on with it a post a few more replies....
Well obviously, I'm a newbie, only joined in Dec'2005 and have only posted a few replies here and there. Now my friends is the question. How does one jump from the "is Newbie camp" to the "was Newbie camp" (To be honest, i'm quite happy in the still newbie camp but thought I'd dip my toe in the new thread section)
Is it through time accrued or amount of posts? If its the latter I'm looking at being a newbie till I'm old and grey ;-) that said, I 've seen a few posters on here that have only been on 5 minutes and have managed to be quite prolific, well done.
This may seem a pointless post but its a first.............depending on the replies possibly a last too ;-)

I would say that you are no longer a newbie once you are comfortable posting on the forum.... But if you talk as much as me then you will never have been a newbie in the first place :giggle:

There is no real defining point and whilst it would intially appear that its linked to posts thats only a wee part of it. Getting known is about what you post, how you post it and the interactions that develop with other members as a result of that. I've seen people come on and reach 300 posts(for the sake of a number) inside a week because they've fell into threads like 'word association' and other similar shite (sorry to those that enjoy em) and guess what...at the end of it they are still newbies cos they have said fuck all of note.
The advice about getting known by posting, is as good as you can get, but the assumption that doing that takes a long time is bollocks. Its perfectly feesible to fall into that comfy area very very quickly if you post stuff that brings out your character, unfortunately some people either find it difficult to get their character across or even more unfortunately, have the character and personallity of a tea towl and like nearly every other social based activity, the 'tea towels' get the occasional sympathy interaction, but for the most part get passed over.
Posting can reflect the way you are in real life.......... some people can post some very good things in 5 minutes of getting here and almost immediatley become accepted by the community, whilst others take ages to achieve the same thing....
Finally there are others (like me) who post utter bollox most of the time, but hey thats life......
Ultimately you will only ever get a complete picture of what someones like by meeting them, never let anyone try and persuade you to the contrary..

Err, they've shut me local cos posties dropped his false teeth into the fuse box and all the lights have gone out. had an uncontrollable urge to spout my usual drivel and this place seemed to fit
As newbies, we think we will be untill we have met a few people, and been able to put faces to names.
pop into the private bar when posties teeth are fished out and the lights go on
Well they must have a hell of a work rate! Shakespeare wrote it in 1601 and I had a version out by 1747.
That said, I'm not the fastest typist in the world, in fact I started this as soon as your last post came up ;-)
Hi its Harry,Well i surpose i am a newbi as i was part of a couple but we have split up. Lou used too do all the posts on hear and i was the silent partner now i have to get myself none aswell as every one else i look at the title as a friendly way of grouping new members. And as most people have put you just lose the title as you get none theres people on hear that dont go to many of the parties/munches but are well none. so keep posting and us the chat room if you dare and you wont stay newbi for long.
