wave Hi other Nebies...
...just had an idea   ....see post to cat02_dave......why don't we Newbies organise our own 'munch'(s) and social get togethers, drink at the pub, 'ramble' or walk...whatever. Could be local or regional...could be at short notice...and of course if some of the 'vouched for' and 'validated' SH membership want to come...then all they need to do is ask
....we would all start at the same hurdle....nervous and green.....saves the risk of putting face photos into the public domain, we could vouch for each other.....but more than all of that...we may find it fun, make new friends and even find some of us fancy each other for fun and frolics.....presumably the main reason why we all joined in the first place!
....of course we can only be Newbies for so long ...perhaps one year from date of joining SH...which is in your profile and easily verified...and then we should all have gained enough confidence and validity to merge easliy into the 'grown ups' section of SH
.....feed back please Newbies. ....lets see where we can take this idea   ....which of course may be the 'waste paper' bin, but worth a try
regards and welcolm to all you other newbies
Risen Phoenix biggrin :D
RP, someone's already suggested a 'newbie' munch in Lets Meet Up. The only problem is, many newbies are so nervous, they would hesitate to attend. You'd be far better getting yourself known first and then trying to get an invite for a munch. People don't know you or anything about you, after all. A year is a long time to retain 'newbie' status, too. So-called 'newbies' have been invited to munches well within a year of joining.
As a total newbie I'd find the idea of a gathering of people initially a bit daunting, but its a sweet idea. If we all came in couples, ie eahc met one couple first and then went along to a meet maybe?
Why not just stick to the time honoured tradition of contacting someone and saying 'fancy a drink?'
Many people do seem to have become fixated on munches being the only social aspect of swinging. It isn't - there are many smaller purely social meetings going on all the time.
When Kit and I first arrived as newbies, there were no organised munches or any sort ofsocial scene at all, we still had a number of purely social meets with other site members. It was a simple case of contacting each other and saying 'fancy a drink?'
Use the old acronym of KISS - Keep It Simple Swingers. You don't have to have a munch to meet people socially, just a time, a place, and a willingness.

We did exactly that last week KitKat, there were ten of us, met in the pub then most of us went for a curry. We had a good laugh and it took very little effort to all get together.
