Behind closed doors: The swinging Noughties
No-strings, guilt-free sex with strangers may not be everyone's cup of tea, but more and more of us are getting a taste for it. Emma Gold lifts the lid on the public clubs and private parties where anything - and everything - goes....
Ohhhhh swinging heaven got a mention in there.. that might account for the sudden rise in numbers joining biggrin

I saw this report some time ago or one similar which also mentioned SH. With i blamed for the influx of singele men on here in a prevoius thread. But thats just an opinion not provable fact. But a breakdown of male, females and couples of the recent member numbers would be intresting reading to see if i'm correct in that assumption.
Pretty good article, wonder if the writer is a swinger?

Pretty good article, . . . .

I have to agree.
I don't normally pay much attention to such articles, but for some reason I've just sat and read the whole thing.
And it had reinforced a particular opinion that I've held for a good while about who actually drives the swinging activities.
I can feel an other thread (or two redface ) coming on.
A very good article.... That makes a change :lol2:
Whilst I think it's pretty well written and objective, there is one point that I'm picking up on that I don't agree with (it may just be me).
I suspect if the writer is a swinger, that they've maybe been to a few fever parties (or that type of event).
I think the article is suggesting that "traditional swingers" are the people who do the keys in a bowl thing and will shag anything and those that attend "fever parties" are selective about who they shag.
I am reading between the lines too much or has anyone else read it that way? dunno
Agree with you HLB.
The writer needs to look up the difference between 'discreet' and 'discrete' though rolleyes
I thought it was well written and objective inasmuch as the writer isn't as fast to comdemn swingers as seen in a lot of other articles. Had this been written by the 'gutter press' ( ie The 'News' of the World, The Sport etc ) then I could imagine swingers being labelled from the first paragraph as somewhat sleazy, which we in the know realise that's as far from the truth as it can get. I didn't see any reference to the protection swingers in general insist on being used as I think we're more health conscious than people outside of this lifestyle.
On the whole, a good article

and Noughty and Naughty wink
One of the reasons why I think this is a Swinger having a try at journalism and opposed to a journalist having a go at swinging biggrin
The writer seems more interested in these superhuman supermodel perfect swingers than in the rich diversity of the scene, the fact that all ages, shapes, sizes, races can join in with issue of personal selectivity and consent still lies at the heart of that,it is NOT a shag anything mentality that prevails but there is a chance for us flawed, normal human beings to have a choice and be included in things!

I think the 'noughties' is a reference to the decade, as in eighties, nineties, noughties.

Good points Sassy.
It is in the right spirit and a long way from the gutter press gangs bending of facts but it you're right SS,it does miss out on some key points like swinging and safe sex and the writer seems to be involved in the younger more glam end of it.

I always wondered what the word was for the current decade - now I know redface
Nice to see a bit of unbiased journalism excellent article.
The internet makes plagiarism ever so easy to commit. The journalist has copied whole passages from Wikipedia. Sad really.
"Those keen to attend must initially submit a photo of themselves and between 40 per cent to 60 per cent of applicants are turned away because they are not sufficiently attractive. Nonetheless, her latest event is already fully booked."
Still think that gives swinging a bad name - who the hell gets to decide how good looking someone else is. Article was good, though.

It's like the VIP room thing really, the young and beautiful wanting to play with nothing but the young and beautiful, though to be fair its their club so it's their rules - including ruling out attractive people of a more mature age range which makes it rather like a swingers version of "Logans Run" lol!

Well, absolutely - and if they're doing well then more power to them I guess. I just, dunno - I find it a bit unethical.

yep. agreed. one of the things i disliked that it very much had a "swinging with the beautiful people" kinda slant to it, giving it a bit of a shallow spin on swinging and lifestyle, but i suppose the intent was to put a different kind of slant on it versus the usual tabloid rubbish. it's not sleazy . . . it can even be glamourous?
was about the best article i've read as yet, anyways.
