9 Things I Hate About people..
1. People who point at their wrist while asking for the time.... I know where my watch is pal, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is?
2. People who are willing to get off their ass to search the entire room for the T.V. remote because they refuse to walk to the T.V. and change the channel manually.
3. When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too". Damn right! What good is cake if you can't eat it?
4. When people say "it's always the last place you look". Of course it is. Why the hell would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they?
5. When people say while watching a film "did you see that?". No Loser, I paid $12 to come to the cinema and stare at the damn floor.
6. People who ask "Can I ask you a question?".... Didn't really give me a choice there, did ya sunshine?
7. When something is 'new and improved!'. Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it, couldn't be new.
8. When people say "life is short". What the hell?? Life is the longest damn thing anyone ever does!! What can you do that's longer?
9. When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks "Has the bus come yet?". If the bus came would I be standing here, dumbass?

Those who don't understand the meaning of "troll".
Don't know about anyone else, but I've always though a troll is someone who deliberately tries to stir things up.
What do I call someone who asks a lot of questions? erm nosey :giggle:

You didn't post in there then did you ?
innocent
I certainly don't want to pick an argument with you as you have made very eloquent and reasoned arguments elsewhere in the forum, for topics which really do need to debated, so I know you are intelligent and have principles and opinions. I will say however that this felt like a direct criticism of my post and that it was not meant to be in a 'humurous' manner in any way.
We all have opinions, hell, it's what makes the world such an interesting place, but ffs don't start moaning about others picking on an obvious troll (NB: they were troll threads, asking questions is just another troll technique for drawing people in). If a troll isn't dealt with, they'll just try harder - they're only trying to bring discord to the forum, and by slagging each other off, they have done so (although not in the thread they intended, so maybe he/she/it missed it).
I hope we meet up at some point so I can tell you "Bollocks" to your face, then have a laugh about it ! wink
I'm pissed off that I got drawn in to a degree, but only to take the piss, and out of the troll, not other members. You will also note that I was having a particularly shitty day yesterday (details of which, I will not put in writing on the 'net) but if we meet, I'll explain and you will understand.
Okay, got it off my chest now. End of moan.
(But thanks for keeping me alive !)

Yes, I did. Once to express my opinion with the wolves pic, then later in response to someone that had answered the guy's question - because I was involved in the story/situation and because it sounded humorous to me.
How many times did YOU post in there ?
How many times did the thread author ??

I certainly don't want to pick an argument with you
but you're going to rolleyes
as you have made very eloquent and reasoned arguments elsewhere in the forum, for topics which really do need to debated,
That's pretty much irrelevant to the point you raise now.
so I know you are intelligent and have principles and opinions.
That comes across (to me) as very patronising. I need neither your approval or support
I will say however that this felt like a direct criticism of my post and that it was not meant to be in a 'humorous' manner in any way.
Don't flatter yourself.
It was aimed at the "pack mentality" that sometimes shows it's ugly face around here. I quoted you because YOU brought it up.
You are right tho' to assume that it wasn't posted with any humour

"don't start moaning about others picking on an obvious troll " ???????? Personally ? I'd call that trolling the trolls. "picking on" - a good and interesting choice of words. You think you have the right to tell me, or anyone other than your own offspring what to not moan about ??????????????????????????
(NB: they were troll threads, asking questions is just another troll technique for drawing people in).
IN YOUR OPINION
Somewhere you mentioned an "ignore button" - We already have one. It's called free will. You chose to read, contribute and continue in there.

If a troll isn't dealt with, they'll just try harder - they're only trying to bring discord to the forum, and by slagging each other off, they have done so (although not in the thread they intended, so maybe he/she/it missed it).
As to what is a troll ???????????
IN MY OPINION Those that follow a troll, feeding the troll, etc are as bad if not worse than the original troll.
I would say that you, personally, and others were trolling the troll.

I hope we meet up at some point so I can tell you "Bollocks" to your face, then have a laugh about it ! wink
I doubt I would appreciate that. With or without the "wink"
I'm pissed off that I got drawn in to a degree, but only to take the piss, and out of the troll, not other members.
You didn't "get drawn in" You went in. With both feet. IN MY OPINION
You will also note that I was having a particularly shitty day yesterday (details of which, I will not put in writing on the 'net) but if we meet, I'll explain and you will understand.
Again - pretty much irrelevant. In fact, quite insulting. "I'm having a bad day so I'm going to be an arse and take it out on you" A question. Do you think it's acceptable to give a pre-emptive apology, then believe it's ok to say what you want without the fear of recourse ?? I think it's the height of bad manners and shows nothing but contempt for the people it's said to.
Okay, got it off my chest now. End of moan.
And nicely in public too.
(But thanks for keeping me alive !)
btw - Did you intend to sign off publicly with your real name ?

It was not my intention when I started it; but the whole "Tramper" thing opened my eyes even further to the "pack of wolves" mentality and those that choose to "troll the trolls"
You don't me from Adam, marreidmale.
You know very little, if anything of me.
You chose to do this in public, so I answered in public.
I choose to give you an insight to my personality.
I will nearly always respond to people in the manner I feel they are starting the conversation.
Whilst I feel mortified when I offend people unintentionally- I have absolutely no problem offending people if that's my intent.
I can be a complete arse with the best of them.
I believe tho' that I have the good grace to see it, accept it and embrace it. Make no mistake, those close to me; and those that hold my respect can and do tell me when I am being an arse, and I respect them for doing so.
The Wolf Pack…..
Gave me an interesting couple of thoughts for a moment or two.
It has been said before about the role that (what is here being referred to as) the Wolf Pack play in policing the site. It is effective and as there are plenty of posts around explaining this point – I shall not reiterate at this stage (though I recall davej posting quite a good one if anyone cam be arsed to go and have a look).
However, more and more I have noticed the lack of originality in the posting from the packs in such threads. There used to be at least a number of clever remarks made (and quite often some bloody hilariously funny ones) that at least showed some effort of thought - now it sometimes becomes more a repeat or standard reply rather than an expression of view or opinion. A copying or cloning of what the perceived piers have posted in other threads – almost like an acceptance ritual to enhance belonging.
Chains are also noticeable too – you see one username pop-up and you can have a pretty safe bet who will be popping up shortly after.
I personally do post in such threads. I feel compelled to when someone expresses a twatish opinion or asks a half arsed question – however I usually try to post as an individual expressing a view/thought/opinion/objection and also try to be original in my piss-taking (though sometimes it has to be said I just roll my eyes as sarcastically as a smiley allows).
So Dammy – you have me in a quandary – I both see a need for certain behaviour you are criticising and yet I see where you are coming from and to a point agree.

I think you go a long way to answering the quandary by what you say here . . . .
. . . . . – however I usually try to post as an individual expressing a view/thought/opinion/objection and also try to be original in my piss-taking . . .

In my, this time genuinely humble opinion, you more often than not, do achieve that aim.
I can't remember where, but I did say somwhere or other "for wolves, read mindless sheep" or something similar.
And I'm sure you can guess what I think the best thing about opinions is ? wink
