Just watching the news and apparently 1 in 4 schools will not be having a Christmas carol service and 1 in 7 will not be putting on any nativity plays. Why ? Because society is multi cultural and other religions have to be catered for. Thats absolutely fine cater for them, thats what multi cultural is all about and I'm all for that, I try to look on us all as a planet full of different ideals and not different races who should not try to mix them. But surely they should not be stopping this traditional celebration of Christianity in schools when the uk is predominately Christian. Oh and by the way I am not religious I just want to know what you think.
Totally wrong to let the kids suffer and miss out on the chance to celebrate is amazing that even the people who aren't Christians think it is all wrong to ban Christmas in so many places.
I agree. I think this whole "offending other religions" thing has gone abit OTT. I believe in letting people of all religions practice what they normally practice without discrimination.
yep i was a bit taken aback too.
apparently, a good proportion of schools will be having a non-denominational / non-religious christmas celebration this year? WTF? dunno last i heard christmas was actually a religious festival. of course i could be wrong, and it's maybe better to teach kids that it's really just a commercial extravaganza of runaway consumerism, santa claus, presents, eating and drinking with no relevance whatsoever? :dunno: and i'm sure none of the kids would have got anything constructive out of staging a nativity or anything eh?
n x x x ;)
Well I went to my 8 year olds last Friday and it was brilliant, he was one of the 3 Kings and he was fab, I was so proud of him. He goes to a C of E school, so for them not to a nativity and carol service is a contradiction. I agree that schools should do a nativity and carol service as this teaches them the fundemental reasons behind christmas.
I agree that this whole banning nativities is very OTT.. Round where I live they have purposefully toned down all the christan festivals.... and put the muslim ones more in the spotlight.. To me, thats not equality.. thats sucking up lol
It is crap!!
Do we ask other cultures to tone down their stuff?

I agree with you on this, if we ask other cultures to tone down their religious beliefs we get slandered as racist. Now I am not racist in any way but things like that do irritate me an awful lot.
I aint a racist person either but i think that we are getting dealt a bad hand with regards to this issue!
Political correctness has gone OTT this christmas......they are so intent on not offending the ethnic religion's, that they don't get it.....they are offending the christian majority!
All religions should be able to accept other religious celebrations and they more than likely do and would!.....It's the PC croonies that are ruining it for everyone and causing more damage than good!
It isn't only the religious side that Tony has fucked up it is not being able to call yourself are the only home country to not exist under this awful labour party.
I think its sick to be told NOT to have nativity plays etc, so as not to upset other cultures mad
My 3 yr old son was a a king in his play group and my daughter was a 'towns person' in her school play and to watch these has been a sheer joy, religious or not. Luckily my daughters school also teach about other religious beliefs so take on board all cultures, but how many other schools teach these and forget about their own? rolleyes
Indeed! When we were children Christmas used to be accompanied by a blanket of white snow to go with it. We dont even get that anymore...this is simply PC gone mad!!!
Genhertscpl,
You must of been proud to watch your children in son (now 16) used to love taking part in nativity plays and carol concerts.
