I think we're right to try and reply but I had a nasty moment, not on this site I hasten to add. On AFF. I got a standard "You must be gagging for a young guy - I can..." etc etc message, written in text and I replied in the constructive SH manner saying No thank you, but here are ways you can improve your approach. Big mistake. I got a horrible reply saying "I know where you live, bitch - watch your back" etc etc. I reported him and his account was closed off immediately but it left a bad taste.
I still try and reply, though, and will continue to.

I had a bad experience on AFF myself. I saw this advert that had a few nice phrases when you struggled through it, but was written in all-caps with no punctuation, and I made a mistake of writing to the woman, acknowledging that I wasn't the kind of guy she was looking for, but suggesting that this ad might not be the best way to attract the "intelligent, sophisticated" man she was seeking. I got back a very abusive reply thanking me for proving that all men were illiterate.

i intended to just ignore him.. but being me (a bit of a gobsh##e), i decided he did not deserve the last word... so had it myself.
i sent him a reply explaining that me telling him i was "sorted" for now was lies.... i was infact only trying to be polite and save him from the knowledge that it was infact his picture turning my stomach that stopped me wanting to meet him... along with his non existent personality.
this was all very politely put i hasten to add.
i finnished by wishing him a good day.
imagine my shock and horror :shock: upon recieving another reply from him,
he had indeed excelled himself as two of the three words in the email were expletives!
pmsl. :lol:
i again wrestled my concience about wether to allow him the last word.. and my concience lost!
the end result was that i went out of my way to explain how it was soooo unbecoming to a middle aged man to appear to be so desperate that he was unable to take any sort of rejection.
i pointed out one or two of his shortcomings :twisted: and advised him that his attempts at insults were hilarious.. so he would be well advised to practise them.
i also let him know that i would be unlikely to reply any further.. as unlike him.. i would be too busy having fun!
just wanted to keep you all up to date.

I don't get many 'thanks but no thanks' replies from women or couples, but when I do, as I did today, it's much appreciated
It does get frustrating sometimes as I don't get replies to most of the ads I respond to, and sometimes I put soooo much effort into it only to get zilch.
Then again I'm not desperate, and it's impossible to tell how someone you don't know and have never met is going to take your reply.
Personally I'd hit the delete button, put 'em on block and never reply to them again - they'd soon go away.
