Nostalgic records to shag to

There are some records that define who we are, we grow up listening to stuff that is either in vogue or is against the norm, music that we have “discovered” for ourselves.
I have few regrets in my life, but I do regret having a shitty time of it in Thatcher’s Britain of the 80’s, which saw me sell most of my record collection to pay for the teenagers’ lifestyle of drinking and “socialising”. I have now worked long enough to be able to afford to replace some of the important music in my life that I sold to fund that teenage way of life (teenage kicks all through the night).
First Question: What record do you regret not now owning?
Tonight I watched a retrospective of the band Motorhead, a band I adored, and saw on several occasions, and it brought a lot of very good memories back to me, my first teenage girl experience was to a Motorhead album, and now after several whiskies and much hunting I have found the album (not the original one used to woo the particular girl) and think to myself, “now who the hell would this seduce?”.
I am (perhaps) a little drunk (also on Baileys Angel Chat, but only as a mixer to a large Glenmorangie) and hence the nostalgia, but :
Second question:
What album (from the past) would you like to play to get your rhythm going, and do you think it would it work like it used too? (or did it ever really?)
For anyone who knows Motorhead better than just a heavy metal band, Iron Horse is very good for shagging too, unfortunately it is the last track on side one and you need to get up to turn the album over. Other records I used for this purpose (with Mrs Willy) was Pink Floyd Meddle s, Eric Clapton (particularly the sloppy classic) Wonderful Tonight, and perhaps a mistake on my part Joes Garage by Frank Zappa, which included tracks such as Crew Slut, Catholic Girls and Why does it hurt when I pee?.
p.s. Merry Christmas everyone, I think I may go to bed soon.
I shagged to Bad English -When I see you Smile once and it was very good. And Pink-Just like a Pill  . Everytime I here that song I go all wobbly and gooey. rolleyes

After a few whiskies I am feeling a bit wobbly too, wink but I have my music on (quet coz of old neighbour) but I am choking back the nostalgia tears
never thought Motorhead could bring a tear to my eye
Awww sad thread! I lost most of my vinyl collection to an unscrupulous ex in my teens, a lot of which can't be replaced. Admittedly, there was some dodgy stuff in there but lots of 80s rock, metal and goth that isn't available any longer.
Great albums I've shagged to included Hounds of Love by Kate Bush, Tango In The Night by Fleetwood Mac, Nine Inch Nails, several Metallica albums and oddly, the soundtrack to Rocky 4 lol
Well this thread inspired me to rake out a few of my old favs and I have my Bad English on in the background. Ah the memories.
Have you ever heard of them by the way? It was my step dad who was lsitening to this song when I first heard it. Its the only one of theirs Ive heard but I would like to know if theres more!

Waking the Witch always got me going on a cold night.....I think it's the bass that does it biggrin
well yep willy!
my first sexual, intimate experiences, were to Lou Reed's "Berlin". i simply can't listen to it anymore. was my favourite album for many years, but far too many associations.
can't listen to Erykah Badu for the same reasons. just loved up shagging music! sad
oh, and i was lucky enough to see Motorhead ((( head in speakers, deaf for a week! ))) AC/DC, Saxon, Twisted Sister, the list goes on . . . . before me shagging days tho, so all good memories! biggrin as for Meddle? well i just can't see anybody shagging to Roger Waters? dunno

I think the egocentric Roger Waters would have something to say about that lol

Boston's 'More than a Feeling' brings back a flood of vivid teen age romantic fumblings.
I 'lost' my white label copy of Going Underground - The Jam when it was stolen from a party - yes yes i know - why on earth did i take it????
as for albums - well yes i had some wonderful early experiences lsitening to another Kate Bush album - The Kick Inside...... i think there is something strangely sensual about ms. Bush!!!!!!

I also lost the first 4 singles by The Mission on vinyl and I'll never see them again. Early singles by The Mission were pretty cool because they used to carve messages into the outplay spiral on each side.

Oh the Mission made me think of Like a Hurricane which has some fantastic memories attached to it. Not including the bit where I threw up on the Maths room wall the next morning at school.
John Martyn for me though - Bless the Weather ah - happy days.
Most regret losing...
The Jam - Snap LP on vinyl (lost / stolen at an 80's empty!!) and Blythe Powers, Wicked Women, wicked men and wicket keepers!
I have some bizzare taste in music according to LFB

X-Ray Spex Album (pink vinyl) Can't remember the bloody name of it now... something to do with test tubes I am sure, as they were all in giant test tubes on the cover. 1001 reasons why I wish I still had that album.

I have this album on black vinyl. It is called "Germ Free Adolescents" and has picture of the band on the front cover apparently trapped in test tubes. On the reverse side, it shows the rear view of the band members also in the test tubes. Excellent album.
Another Jam fan here too, by the way!!
Which record do I regret not now owning? I sold my 7" coloured vinyl copy of "King Rocker" by Generation X. I now think, "Why?".
What album (from the past) would you like to play to get your rhythm going, and do you think it would it work like it used too? (or did it ever really?)
The Pretenders first LP entitled "Pretenders" has always worked for me. A mixture of punk, ballads and rock. Almost a song for every occasion, it grabs my attention as soon as the stylus hits the groove. The first album I ever bought when I was 13 and one of my all time favourites.
Incidently, I still collect records and vinyl remains my format of chioce. I only ever buy CDs if there is no way I can get the album on vinyl.

Neil, one of my favorite albums and a total classic. Been listening to it since it was released but not and album to make love to. Very dark but beautiful. Still listen to it but usually give 'The Kids' as miss as it's too painful. Whole album has me in tears anyway!

That would have to be either Elysium by Fields of the Nephilim for a long slow smooch or Broken by Nine Inch Nails for hard 'n' fast. Elysium turns Kitty to jelly.

Gwadd! Love 'Elysium'! Was a big fan of the Nephilim and saw then many times. Love Nine Inch Nails as well and 'Closer' would have to be the track I would choose.
Anyway....as a curious observation.....I went to many parties back in the 80's and I recall that everytime The Cream's, 'White Room' was played it made people suddenly start getting frisky and rather familiar with eachother. I am sure there is something seductive about the song that just makes them want to melt in eachothers arms and get it on.
And totally agree with CQ on John Martyn. wink

Music claws out so many emotions for us. I think most people are the same.
Certain tracks always remind you of firsts, be it places, persons or experiences.
All we need to do is hear a song from our past, be it on radio or elsewhere, and the memories all come flooding back.
I dont think people really realise just how big an impact music has on your everyday life.
(That said I'd have sex to the rythym of a christmas carol! so maybe my views dont count!)

If i may add my "four pennyworth" in here - my personal favorite is Enigma!
It has to be the horniest album ever! - but ive made notes to find something with lots of Bass in case i ever meet serendipity biggrin
Somehow when similar threads have appeared I forgotten to mention Rainbow Dome Musik by Steve Hillage. Lovely drifty sensuos stuff that goes just right with the candles, incense and massage oil. I used to put both sides of the album on one side of of a C90 tape to get forty-five minutes of uninterrupted foreplay music. Repeat as necessary or as desired. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
smile :) :)
Amusingly last year my son was raving about the 'new' song by Busted - Teenage Kicks!!!!!!!!!!
Needless to say we had a whole evening of Undertones and Stiff Little Fingers at extreme volume to 'educate' him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
