All i want to say is thank you, thank you, thank you.
finally realised im not the only one with weird ideas and compulsions after reading all above. everyone says im a nightmare to live with as everything as its place ( forever putting things away never to be found again!).
i have to hoover everday otherwise can't relax, all pots have to be done and endless other things that won't go into as ive read them and deleted them cos maybe i am weird!

Locks are my only obsession, I never trust they have locked correctly blink
When I was young I left my parents house and forgot to lock the door, came home later on to find the house unlocked and was very puzzled to find no one home until I realised what I had done.
Now I can lock the front door, go to my car, wonder to myself if I HAVE locked the front door, get out of the car, lock the car, check I have locked the car, open the car and lock the car again just to be sure, go to the house, check the door is locked, wonder if I should open the door to lock it again................. I think you get the idea lol
I'm curious as to why you have your obssesions?
The things like the how you make your tea/ stack the dishwasher, get dressed, etc seem to be more like a routine that feels strange if disrupted, more like habit, or just the 'way you like things done'
Wheres my having to get out of bed on one side only and having the cupboards doors shut etc etc is because I'm actually frightened of what will happen if I don't do that!!
I can soo easily scare myself that some creature or something is lurking in my wardrobe, but if the door is shut, its ok! Now that's when I think it's weird!
Anyone got any tips on what I should do? Section myself?!!!!!
HELP!!!!!!!

My brother has AS and is on a parallel universe completely - like that book "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time " - I lived through it, thought it weird at the time and now still think it's weird. Everything else I do is okay in those terms.

I am reading that book at the minute... Bluddy good read wink
I have a bedtime routine... I always lock the back door, go and turn the alarm clock on and then get changed/brush teeth etc... If Steve locks the back door for what ever reason I normally forget to turn the alarm clock on resulting in getting up late... No idea why though dunno confused blink
I prefer my tea in a china mug, and yes it does taste differently if the mug isn't white inside :?
I like my tins to be in order, beans together etc but I dont mind if the labels are not all facing the front. That might be because I already know what tin I am reaching for as they are all in the same place :lol2:
The only other thing I am obsessive about is my Lush :giggle:

Don't worry hun. I did the same thing 2 nights ago. Walked right past my car in the car park and thought someone had nicked it. :giggle: Felt a bit of a muppet when I realised redface

There is no way you are a muppet hun
As for me
Well !!!!!
have to put right sock on first dosnt matter what i am doing
like Goose have to put notes in numerical order in pocket
wont cross on stairs, walk under ladders, try not to step on pavements gaps
God i sound crazy

Do you do certain things in a certain way every time? Do something that has your nearest and dearest reaching for the number for the men in white coats? What about late night/early morning routines that would completely spoil the day if not done?
In my food cupboard, all the tins have to be lined up with the labels facing front
I can only sleep if the curtains are open ever so slightly
The washing up has to be done in a certain way - glasses first, then cutlery, then plates with the pots and pans last of all.
Share your strange habits ( I won't giggle much honest :giggle: )

There is not a strange thing there.
For me it is bull the shoe anti clockwise, left shoe first working front to back.
I stay in an awful lot of hotels and always have had the same routine.
When I first enter the room, its bags on the bed, shoes and socks off, re-fil the kettle, drop tea bag in cup. Light fag, remove trousers, unpack, pour water on tea-bag, sort toiletaries in specific order, turn radio on, squeeze teabag.
Then and only then can I relax.
On the odd occasion when I enter a room with someone else and cannot follow this routine I get confused and flustered.
The first thing I have to do is go and draw the shower curtain back. Psycho freakked me out.

Why do they close them anyway?

It lets them dry off.

As you said Maz, a lot of these things are simple force of habit. generally humans are creatures of habit and when our routines are disturbed it can make us feel quite insecure, sometime to the point of not allowing us to function 100%.
Other quirks however can be more serious, and if a break in routine causes us actual fear or panic, then it could well be the early signs of anxiety, which in its turn can in some cases lead to depression which left untreated can become a serious disorder.
IMHO if a habit, quirk, routine that is broken causes you genuine fear, panic or anxiety, my advice is go and have a quiet word with your GP

And you complain about Ian spending money on radio bits bolt
I get really really upset if I lend someone book and they fold the pages, or crease the spine.
And if someones reading a magazine near me, and they fold it over, it really bugs me.

Oh and the new christmas products are being released very soon.... I have had a sneak preview :whistling:
i have just used the last drop of my beloved Lush Icon perfume
i kid you not, there isnt much I wouldnt do to get my hands on another.....sadly discontinued many moons ago, and the only way of getting any now is blackmail, murder or holding out for a Xmas discon round. I'm not obsessed, honest lol
Oh Darkfire sad I missed out on the perfume rounds but I really hope they do another one...
I would love a bottle of Silky Underwear :inlove:
start saving up Shireen hun, i've just watched a decant bottle of American Cream from the last round of 'special edition perfumes' go on ebay for £52
  That's as bad as a bottle of Skinny Dip gel go for £92 after they made it earlier in the year!!
we're not completely ga-ga over this stuff for nothing you know!
