I've just come in from a day out in the sunshine and have borne witness to some truly horrendous sights.
I know we all have different body shapes and nothing wrong with that but there are surely flattering ways to display them, and then there are the more obscene ways.
In the space of 15 minutes while I had a quick coffee I saw two impressively-bellied guys in England shorts, flip flops and nothing else; and a woman wearing a bikini top with a gut-overhang (plus bellybutton piercing) and trakkie bottoms. And loads of other variations on the same theme.
I spent a bit of time in Italy last summer and noted that hot weather clothing etiquette is very different there i.e. most people actually cover up rather than disrobe. OK, I know most of the under 30s are fabulously fit and it's a pleasure to watch them at the beach, but even there the older fatter ones dressed appropriately.
Or am I just being a body fascist?
To be honest...and i know it sounds unkind but...some people should have a licence before they wear shorts and walk around topless in the summer.I hate it when your on holiday in the buffet and someone has their smelly arm pits and sweaty bellies near the food.
Eeuuwwww !!
Absolutely. Anyone heard The Fall song "British people in hot weather"? I couldn't help humming it to myself as I made my way home this afternoon.
Dunno if your post is just a reference to the fat un's Del or if its about any shape, but as far as beach wear is concerned it don't bother me either way what folk wear, provided its on the beach, but am still old fashioned enough to believe in the un written etiquette that when you step off it, its just right that some clothing, albeit very light should be put on and thats regardless of body shape. I wouldn't go across the road to the shops etc without putting a shirt on and likewise mrs davej would slip a top and shorts over the bikini. I have seen folk wandering around doing their shopping either topless for guys or in a bikini top for girls and it just don't sit right with me, whether fat, thin or toned.
I did see an emo girl earlier in town wearing a pink skinny-fit t-shirt, green shorts, black doc martens and brown woolly legwarmers, so the beerguts did not phase me.
Doesnt matter to me what people wear or dont wear.
I allways have my top on outdoors just down to being self concious
Having said that i only ever have my top off in the back garden......
.... or on webcam in chat :giggle:
