how about, you dont have your hand on ya plums while trying to type and chat in the chatroom? far easier to strike up conversation/ get someone's attention when you mind is on the job (typing I mean)......to be honest (now maybe its just me though) but you're probably more likley to get to cam: cam with someone when you've put a bit of effort into finding out a little bit about them and established a rapport via text than you ever will just sitting with one hand on ya plums in a half-hearted 'well i'll type and stroke at the same time'.

Thanks for the opportunity to post/delurk without fear of getting flamed. Our question for you is why do the main activists on the board seem to assume that if you are not a regular poster (ie in the hundreds if not thousands) then you are a timewaster and not genuine. We noted an example of this where someone put out an open invitation for a social later this year. One couple were denied an invite as they hadn't posted enough, and therefore not part of the inner rectum .... oops meant sanctum which is a shame as it's not too far from us and would have loved to attend as we enjoyed the post erotica social in London last year.
We considerable ourselves to be a fun loving gregarious couple who enjoy our swinging as and when time permits. We both have full time jobs, kids who spend more time on the pc than we do and generally have a pretty hectic life. When we do log in we enjoy reading some of the humerous "banter" but do not feel the need to post just for the sake of posting. We subscribe to the maxim "Quality rather than quantity" which goes someway to explain why we rarely post and why we are unlikely to reply to an "open invitation" which has hidden prerequisites.
Apologies if this is seen to be a bit of a rant, but hopefully this may stimulate some of the other lurkers to post and agree or indeed disagree.

I certainly can't argue with the fact that some regulars don't have a lot of time for newbies or irregular posters, but it's not just those that get ignored, believe me. I've been a member for 2 and a half years, and I still get blanked by some of the more frequent posters. Maybe it's because they don't like my posts or attitude, maybe it's because I haven't, in their view, posted enough crap in two and a half it's because I'm really not interested in attending the Munches and Socials, but standing around just talking to people when I could be shagging isn't really my thing.
I can understand the reasons why Newbies are treated sceptically. There are a lot of fantasists on here who will only ever whack off at the thought of having a shag with a stranger but never actually do it. And inviting people you really don't know to social events is a big trust thing. Most of us keep our swinging lives private, and the scary thought of a reporter attending an event and then writing about it does, I'm sure, really worry a lot of people.
I honestly don't know what the answer to that problem is. There needs to be something worked out though......................there must be hundreds of really lovely people on here who would be great to meet who might never get the chance or the invitation.

I honestly dont think there is a band of 'main activists' anymore - not that there ever really was anyway .....but I, like you, did get that sense of in-group/ out-group mentality at first, although I have to say it didnt last long.
I'm not replying in an attempt to flame you etc etc - this is a nice thread and we're all going to be nice to each other, correct? :lol: ( repeat mantra) but I have to say I dont agree with what you're saying.
Some people 'fit' immediately, others dont - what more can I say? I really dont think its anything to do with post counts "in the hundreds if not thousands" - other people either like you, or they dont...they accept you, or they dont. I didnt feel 'accepted' at all for a while, but me being me just thought 'fuck it' and carried on anyway!
With regard to the socials etc - people will get turned down if they're not known. Its a simple as that. Until you're known enough to perhaps have been to some parties, met other people here who know other people etc, chatted on msn/ chatroom/ exchanged emails....you know the routine....until you've done at least some of that, basically, done some groundwork and people begin to feel that they 'know' you (and trust you) then thats just the way things are. Its definately not about 'getting into the inner sanctum' - and from the sounds of it, you're not that fussed about the social aspect of the lifestyle anyway so I'm not sure where the problem is?
Maybe things will change around here (I guess they already have) - and the social element will disappear........but then, we wouldnt need the Cafe! we'd all be over in LMU arranging meets and not conversing/ making new friends/ spending time 'socialising' here in the threads...surely?

Some people enjoy the banter and spurious threads about bugger all - because its funny, its escapism, its an opportunity to forget the daily grind and spend time in the virtual company of others who are like-minded. THAT is where the sense of community comes from - now, people either accept that as part and parcel of what it is to be a swinger (and often non-swinging too) here on SH/ other sites.... or they dont. And thatis where this in-group / out-group / inner sanctum thing comes in.
But, I have to ask, why the rant (and digs)? if you dont want to be involved in the heavier social side anyway - and are a 'dooer' not a 'socialiser' here, by your own admission. :dunno:
