In particular Kidney transplant?
no I haven`t but wouldn`t think twice about doing it if any of my friend or family needed one.
Giving or receiving?? A friend of ours has just had a kidney transplant, his son had one the year before and the kidney was donated by his brother smile
What did you want to know? I cant tell you much but I know that others will ask for more information so I thought I would get in first :lol2:

Or operating? biggrin
Im hoping to donate to my brother, he's been on dialysis for over 2 years, Ive got to get my bloods done, to start the matct procedure. Its the time perod, length in hospital, and how I/we will feel afterwards
More danger for the donor than the reciever.. a well versed thing now though, not quite routine however and has dangers attached for both. Things are so well versed now though they can spot danger well before it becomes an issue..
Not had one done but is a subject very close to heart. Myself, I had kidney failure 2 years ago now, result of an operation and a nasty infection that followed, 5 long days they closed down and things looked grim but thank God they started up again and have been fine ever since. I also have 2 cousins who are on full dialysis awaiting transplant.

A friend of our youngest son had one of his kidney's removed when he was aged 4 years and donated to his cousin aged 3 years.
Their mother's are sisters and naturally one sister felt her son could help the other's - which was successful.
They are both now in early 20's and don't seem to have had any particular problems, apart from that neither of them can drink very much alcohol and become drunk on very little if not careful.
Aside from that, both healthy and my son's friend has two small children now too smile

I was more on the physical side, I dont see this as a selfless thing, just a family thing that has to be done. Will I be fucked basically?

There is quite a lot of information surrounding LRD to be gained through Google just input live kidney donatiom or live renal donation - Some really good stuff regarding it all. Physical and psychological. Some good reads.
Your choice is yours alone. Respect to you rising
Having had 2 transplants already and still waiting for a third after 5 years, it's great you have offered to donate a kidney to your brother. My first was a kidney donated from my mum, that was over 25 years ago and she was only in hospital 2 weeks way back then. Only problem she had after was she became rather prone to back ache.
i've given just received my 50 gold award for giving blood people tend to forget the unsung heros who donate in a different way so com'on

Me neither - my veins collapse all the time. But I'm seriously impressed with anyone who is willing to donate live. I carry the card - they can have everything excpet my eyes - dont't know why I care - dead meat is just that. Might as well make use of it.
That's decided me - I'm changing my registration to offer the lot, eyes and all.
Done it.
I went to the uktransplant website and clicked the obvious link.

surprised when i looked into giving blood i was under the impression certian high risk groups due to their activities were not allowed to ie gay men, swingers, drug users. perhaps im wrong ?!! redface
I cant due to my heart condition......The medication I take and the fact I have been innoculated against hepititus(sp?)
