Without trying to sound morbid or weird I have a slight fascination for the unexplained and always love to read a good mystery and watch programmes about the occult etc. I was having a conversation with my friend the other day about a horror movie we watched recently called 'Witchboard' (about a woman who gets involved with a ouija board to disastarous consequence) and my friend suggested that we try a ouija board.......my initial reaction was that this might be a fun idea but as we started preparing it I had second thoughts and decided that it might not be a great idea....they say that curiosity killed the cat!
Has anyone here ever had any experience of ouija board and would they recommend it? Or any other stories about strange happenings?
:evil2:
Yes I have experience. And my advice would be, if you don't know what you're doing leave it alone! It is not some parlour trick and you could open yourself and your home up to some real nasties if you're inexperienced.
Did you see Dead Famous last night on Livingtv?
That could have turned v nasty. The "medium" (and I use that term lightly in last nights case) hadn't a clue what she was doing when the bloke was possed!
Take yourself down to your nearest Spiritualist church. Observe and learn first.
Hope that helps.
Hah, Witchboard was the film that got me into wanting to use ouija boards. Haven't used one yet, but I would. I've had so-called psychics warn me off it, but I'd still do it.
I don't believe that anything from 'the other side', if there is one, can harm you physically.
I love anything to do with the occult, and i dont mean to sound weird or anything but I have tried ouija boards in the past and they have worked.....
Even though, I am still in awe and also frightened of ouija boards. I have had experiences and bad ones at that, but wont elaborate on them.
I am an avid fan of Most Haunted, although some of it is far fetched, some of it also is very believeable, but I do think most of it is a publicity stunt to keep Derek Acorah in diamond stud ear rings...lol
I have done the Ouija boards many years ago, but wouldnt do it again. No dramatic results that turned me off just a growing realisation of what can happen.
There are far safer ways of getting in contact with the paranormal. It really depends what sort of end result your looking for what method you should use.
I have been curious about it and i asked my cousin about it and she told me.......
That when she was about the same age as my mother her and a couple of friends did it (they were young at the time) for a laugh! After they done it one of her friends died in a car crash, my mother who was there as the time at a later date gave birth to my brother (who died within minutes!), a family member of one of the other people who did it also died and when she gave birth to her third child (she felt a strange spirit around her!) the child was born with a whole host of problems from autism to epilepsy!
Now she is a firm believer in the paranormal and since the night she done that board has not dabbled in it again! She believes that night cursed her and the people who were there doing it as well.
just my 2 penny worth
leave what you dont understand alone
most spirtual churchs wont do ouija boards....mainly a service and healing....if your really intrested in spiritual development
join an awareness group
then you may be lucky enough to get into a closed circle
im now off to turn all the glasses in my house the right way up
I have already done that!!!
I dont mess with this kind of thing
I was sceptical about "Spirits" to say the least until we had a go with a ouija board. Now I won't go near one.
There are things we don't understand and whether we call them spirits or something else is irrelevent. Someone in the distant future will be able to quantify this energy, until then "Here be Dragons".
Some years ago, I became interested in was immediately after one of my grandads died. I can remember vividly, having 'converstaions' with an aunt who had died (she used to come sit on my bed ). She also told me that she was waiting for my uncle (her husband) as he wouldn't be long. He died within a month of her and I didn't see her again. I have seen and spoken with both my grandads, but never my nannans (which was, in a way, upsetting). I have passed on messages from dead people to living people in a spiritualist church, giving them details (proof) that I couldn't possibly have known and that were too detailed to be put down to wild guesses and 'that could be applied to a lot of people'. In the process of doing that, I made some people happy and also upset some people.
My dad went to a spiritualist healer at one point and I took him as he couldn't drive himself there. The healer was alone in body in her room, but I could 'see' about a dozen other people there, ranging from a small girl to an American Indian. The healer said that I had an aura and should go back to the church (i'd never met her before or told her that I'd stopped going), but I haven't. This is partly because I haven't the time; partly because I know that I upset more people than I made happy; partly because my hubby thinks it's all a bit strange. He's also quite worried because of an experience that I had during my time going to church.
This may sound silly to some, but the church I went to, had some evenings that were only by invitation, if they could see that you had something (let's call it a gift).
They would have sessions where they would help you to understand and nurture your gift, to enable you to 'see' more. During one of these sessions I went into a trance-like state and it took several more experienced members to bring me back to the here and now. This scares ths shit out of my hubby and he'd rather I don't go back. At the moment, it suits menot to, but I may change my mind in the future.
I also get 'visitors' in the house regularly. Often it's a feeling that there's someone there with you, but I do have one who I've seen and spoken to. He's a little old man and wears a flat cap; I think he may have lived here at one time. He's never hurt anyone and the dog knows when he's there as well.
The subject of Ouija boards is one that I dind quite scary though, have only ever heard bad things about them. I'd stay well away from that. If anything, I would say, go to a spiritualist church and don't expect to get any 'messages' but keep an open mind. Don't ridicule anything that is said because a lot of people who do go, do so when a relative has recently died and you will most likely be asked to leave.

I've been to a spiritualist church and had readings from psychics and been to a psychic show. I totally believe in the spirits of dead people being around all the time, I sometimes can "predict" stuff as well but with regards to ouija boards, they can be very dangerous. Someone once said, "It's like leaving your front door open and inviting anyone in who passes - there will be nice people but also not so nice people around." It's the same with a ouija board, you're inviting ANY kind of spirit to come to you not just the ones you would WANT to hear from. Be very careful!

I'd never mess around with something like that........its just the thought that was if we did open some doorway to the other side.....too freaky......besides i'd never do it in my own house.....went to see White Noise at the cinema......now that was scarey!
Analogy for Ouija boards .... there are very few people who would open their front door to an unknown crowd - imagine them getting into your house  and not wanting to leave.
The same goes for ouija boards ... you are inviting an unknown spirit into your life, one you possibly can't see, get rid of or necessarily communicate with.
It's not big, it's not clever and it's not funny!
