My neighbours think they are god. .....Typical homeowners think they own the rest of the f*cking world.

In every community here will always be people who think they are superior to others, and also those who like to mark themselves out as different from the rest.
Why, one or two even post in coloured text! lol
bolt
I was always taught never to write in red.. it was rude!..
Now .... I do so whenever possible lol. Just my little fluck off to the establishment as they always gave me a hard time.. and because I can lol..
So ner ner ner..
Mike xx wink
I too am a low rent housing association dweller and next doors kids (who's parents own their house) do my head in by playing football in the street and using my van as a goal with the that I drive around all day with lots of muddy ball imprints on the side.
I guess my point is that it works both ways and you can't stereotype
I gotta be carefull as i seem to be turning into the kind of bloke i hated as a kid........
"GET OFF ME GARDEN"
"IF THAT BALL HITS MY CAR AGAIN I WILL RAM IT UP YA ARSE"
"GO PLAY ROUND YA OWN END"
"ITS NOT FECKING HALLOWEEN YET"
"YES IT IS HALLOWEEN, BUT DONT KNOCK ON MY BLOODY DOOR"
Well me old muka, I don’t often disagree with your posts but on this occasion
Just as well I know what a wind up merchant you can be :lol2:
On a serious note, I rent and in no way do I feel inferior to those struggling to own their own home.
Please don’t miss read me, I have great respect for those who aspire to own their homes, which is usually done for the sake of their children rather than for themselves as, lets be honest here, they don’t own it, the mortgage company does, at least until its paid for, but the people who will benefit are their offspring, or if there are no rug rats, then they (hopefully) will benefit in their old age through having something that can be downsized and turned into a lump sum so a comfortable life can be enjoyed, all power to them in my book
The flip side, and the reason I have a certain amount of pity for them and their plight is because of the huge raft of financial burdens that is thrown at home owners at a constant rate of fire.
Firstly there’s the mortgage itself, I have checked out the variation between what I pay in rent, and what I would have to pay if I wanted to buy in this area and the difference is just unbelievable, in fact, for me, prohibitive.
Then there’s being at the mercy of market forces and the dreaded interest rates, one minute you’re just about sailing along, the next the BoE decide its time for a hike and every thing goes tits up :scared:
(OMG :scared: :scared: :scared: the biggest spider ever has just crawled across the carpet and is sitting looking at me, I’m sure its saying “come on then ya big jessy, lets see what yer made of duel ….. bolt )
Then there is the ever rising costs of repairs.
Last year the back boiler on my fire blew out, I picked up the phone and two days later a little man arrived at the door, looked at it, scratched his head, looked at it again, scratched his bollox and then shaking his head said …
“ its fecked mate, I’ll have to put a whole new Parkray and boiler in”
I shrugged and said,
“ok off you go, want a cuppa?”
ok he had to bugger off to the yard to get said replacement, and yes a plumber had to be called to deal with the aquatic side of the business but by 5:00 pm it was done dusted, mess cleaned up and a roaring fire in the shiny new fireplace.
As the guys where leaving I happened to ask the wee fellah,
“ how much would this have cost me if I owned the place?”
well after a lot of judicious scratching of head and unmentionables, a huddle in the corner with said aquatic engineer, sucking of teeth and rolling of eyes the answer was … “about free and an alf grand mate”

“feck me” I cried, then relaxed with the returning knowledge that the actual cost to me would be dunno
And that’s just one example, in the last 10 years, I have had:
Double glazing
Central heating
Said Parkray
New doors front and back.
A brand new fitted kitchen (with choice of units mind :rascal: )
Cavity wall insulation
The whole house re-wired to come into line with the latest H&S requirements
Loft insulation …… and ………
A new replacement roof
Not to mention countless repairs like broken windows redface blocked drains etc etc
Cost to me …
Ahh I hear you say, but all that will have put your rent through the roof :lol2: and renting can be so transient rolleyes
Nope, wrong on both counts I have rented the same home for the last 27 years, my tenancy agreement clearly states that the rent can only be increased on a yearly basis, and then only by 2% above the rate of inflation. There is also a clause that states that should inflation spiral, annual rent increases must be kept to , .. And I quote “ a level that is deemed reasonable “
I have right of tenancy until I decide to end it or until I die, I even have the right to pass on my tenancy to any one of my kids so hey …. Is there any reason to feel inferior? Quite the opposite methinks.
Both my neighbours left and right have bought their houses and we get on really well, despite my ‘very loud’ summer bbq’s Saturday night parties, screaming matches between me and the ex, screaming matches between my son and his g/f, massive firework parties, turning my garden into a campsite for sexually degenerate SH members rotflmao and all kinds of other things that I won’t even go into on here surprisedops:
Own, rent, who cares? :dunno: live and let live is the answer mate, as for kids playing football, I have an automatic missile targeting system that deals with them quite efficiently, its called “the look” we have a huge football / cricket / rugby fielf within half a mile of the house, there is even a tennis court there, s as soon as I see any kind of a ball in my boys hands, “the look” is employed, which means, feck off to the field with it, or put it away.
wink
Nice one Pete.
In addition, my lovely ma in law is having to sell her house to pay for her nursing home fees.
If she'd carried on paying rent on her council house and NOT bought it, she could have had a more comfortable life and not had to scrimp and save all her life.
And obviously she won't have anything to leave to her kids.

Yes but not at the expense of being offensive ;-)
Well finally I now understand the reason for the Berlin Wall
The council house peeps were all on the East and the house owners on the West
Thanks for helping me with this Lost, btw are you a commie??

My neighbours think they are god. I am a low down scabby association house low rent person and they bought thier house years ago in 1927 i think. I'm sorry folks. the above posts really does sound bad I know. To all you homeowners I was not really serious about this post, just trying to get a rise. Not good I know redface I do apologise.
There is truth in our neighbours being a problem to us though and also to many others. In fact it is well known to both the 'hood' and the association together with the police that they are just a little bit over zealous should we say. Oh and they are not 'that' old  and many of us neighbours owners and tenants have tried our hardest with them.
As my original post stated there is 'no' sign prohibiting ball play on our little green bit out front and several of the families around it have kids who enjoy playing on it.
Saying that we are in the middle of the Cotswolds with hundreds of square miles of woodland parkland etc. But though I am a believer in freedom for kids as much as possible. My partner likes to really know where they are at 7:00 pm at night especially when the light is fading.
I suppose deep down i am a little envious of people who have succeeded in purchasing their I failed as at one time i also did have a new home with a mortgage and all the other expenses to go with it. I lost it all in 92 when the interest rates reached 15% negative equity hitting £25k (still got 6-7k left to pay 15 years later grrrr) and just to much to bear.
This possibly helped to finish a relationship with my previous partner, the stress was just too much for us both. Though i am in not unhappy about that as I have the partner i have now and she is ace!
So yes maybe I am a little bitter I have never thought about it really maybe i should hmmm. However i do know how hard it is to be a homeowner and i really dont think they own the world just little deserved bits of it in most cases.
Saying all this we could buy my house under'right to buy' and we would be eligible for an 18 - 20k incentive om it. The fact that it's valued at £225,000 for a 3 bed corpy house without parking! makes it about as attainable as me doing the 1500m in the next olymopics. But that's a problem across the board i guess.
Sorry if i upsert anyone, i'm really not wholly bad, just nearly  I thought i better just clarify myself.
Oh and errr whatever you think of me. The Mrs is really quite sweet. I suppose you could say opposites....
Well done that man

We've owned our house for nearly 20 years, some of our oldie neighbours anywhere upto 60 years.
The rented properties on our street, the rentees think they own the F***in world with their 8 kids in 2 bed terraces 3 old bangers parked outside and their kids playing football on the street trying to get it over the roof and bouncing of cars that most people save a fortune to be able to afford with the park literally across the street 30 seconds away.
However
I shut my door and close my curtains and Im home, owned or rented, neighbours are neighbour and can be bad or good whoever they are

Ah. Lost's point is proven then. The stereotypes live on. Shame.
Think point was missed

In fairness this post from you did surprise me Lost, having read a lot of your posts in the past I was a bit taken aback. Not your usual style but this was bound to cause ructions.

Sorry, don't agree here, if we ever decided to buy our own home it would only to give us a little security and to be able to leave something to our kids.
Tony wink

Sadly it won't because you'll have to sell your house to pay for your care in old age... currently if you have less than £21,000 in assets you do not have to pay a bean towards your care - anything over and it is used up to the £21K level...
Let's say house is paid for... worth £200K... you both need care... £1000 a month each for home care... in eight years that sum is eaten up... I think the days of leaving things to the kids has long gone... unless you are going to be good enough not to linger on... what a society we live in! evil sad
Living in London, I think house prices have just become silly. I think that everyone should be able to buy their own home, but the prices are really making things difficult for first time buyers.
Our solution was to go for shared ownership, which has allowed us to part own our home, with the intention that we will buy a house properly in the future. Even if you did lose a house in the past this might still be an option for you?
On the subject of ball games. we have actually have problems with this in our area. But in our case the teenagers involved are deliberately kicking balls at our house, rather than just playing and having fun. So I can understand this could upset people. If they are playing away from peoples homes and not causing a disturbance then this sounds better. Is the green where they are playing close to this man's house? Are they hitting his house, or his car? Have your kids been rude to him?

It aint just London :-(
Prices in our area are ridiculous even though its not a prticularly desireable area.......In fact its right next to an area where all the trouble makers get located :-(

rotflmao good old blunt marya
We own our home, but for how much longer can be anyones guess dunno The rising house prices and mortgages have seen our mortgage go up twice this year. We can't change as we're locked in with this one for another 18 months.
Someone told me the other day we are heading for another recession... that's scares me terribly

sure ... hop in wink
I think it will be more of a slow down than a recession, I've read interest rates are more likely to go down than up. Possibly quite soon.
House prices though are expected to at last level off, although I have heard that before. There is still a shortage of supply, so I don't expect a house price crash.
Me ex-neighbour was a childminder and on occasions had 11 kids at her house. We live at the bottom of a culdesac ans my garden is a wide area of grass. hers is tiny. Guess whose garden got used as a football pitch?
Lovely woman - but I'm soooo glad she moved out. New neighbours? Couple with one 6 year-old girl who hates football. Heaven.
I feel for you though Lost - no fun getting your kids griped at for no good reason. I've owned/rented/owned and I hope I know how you feel.

You only half to pay towards the cost at this level i.e. it is subsidised, if you have under £8,000 then ALL your care (be it social care or care home fees) is paid for. And assets do not include your house (if you own it) if you or your partner is still living in it. It is just savings, cash etc excluding pensions state and personal
I find it so sad when people save frugally all their lives to have their savings eaten up in care home fees, where often their dignity is still stolen too alongside their hard earned money.
