Two things being discussed here really. One is cams on at private socials and the other invites to private parties at someones home.
Hosts of course has the uncondtional right to invite to their home whom they so wish. If its a private social then really its no ones business except the host/s who gets invited.
However, if what I seem to be reading here is that sometimes people are offended at not being invited to their perceived 'friends' socials, thats a real feeling and I think we should never forget that people here do have real feelings. Surely no one here is really setting out to hurt the feelings intentionally of people? If they are then that seems sad and I would worry why.

with the greatest of respect.... if this a mids room problem, then could this have not sorted out in the mids room rather than bringing it on the forums and making the situation a lot larger......

these are social events rather than parties no one is playing and all are aware cam is on nothing happens that requires discression.
lets not forget the aim of these social evenings was to include new people into the mids room circle. People who are invited live within close proximity of each other not 20 30 40 miles away. If u looked and paid close attention to who was invited you would see that it is new people

If i can put my two pence in... i think from someone that cant get to all the invites im (thankfully) lucky to get, i see it from both sides i think to the socials i have been to that have had the cam on its been a laugh the interaction between the party and the room has been lots of fun.. its not been about 'showing' anything but bringing the people into the ambiance of the party for them that maybe couldnt go.... there have been lots of times i havent gone to a pary but have participated from a far cos i chat with the go'rs and feel like ive joined in..... but like its been said by others... its a choice if i didnt want to look i would turn off... i dont feel rejected if im not there joining iin cos the cam partys and the host always make an effort never to leave people out not that ive seen.... i think its a silly thing to feel that way....... ive never seen a cam on at a private party that didnt want it on... so like others have said if you dont like turn it off.. and if you dont like that you have been invited or not involved that time doesnt mean you wont ever get an invite... i can vouch for a few of the posters on this forum... they do there ABSOLUTE best to invovle new faces to the mix... ever party ive been to ive meet new people that have not been before ..... but by doing that it means some of them that 'think' they have a right to every invite cant be as lets be honest.. a house is just a house its not a pub or a hall... theres only so many people that can get in.......
