Can any techies help me out with my pc problem
I get screen freeze. Particularly when using chat room or playing music or video. Screen freeze, monitor says no signal or just goes blank, sometimes pc beeps before going of.
At times the screen is blank but computer still running and sound from speakers.
Have tried the following
Different Monitor
System restore
Windows reload
Am thinking its a hardware problem but not sure what to change first.
Thanks in Advance
Simon
I am FAR from being any sort of expert (techno-shite to me) but I'd suggest taking off all the hardware and doing a bit by bit boot up, adding one more bit of hardware each time. Once the PC fails to do it's thing you'll have hit on the dodgy hardware.
(thanks to my best geeky friend!)
If it isn't hardware then I'm totally stumped and someone else will know a whole lot more!
:P
It sounds like the graphics card might be on its way out. What make/model is it? It might be worth noting down how many times it beeps.
I kind of thought it was the graphics card and am trying to borrow another one of someone to try it . Thanks for your help guys.
If changing the graphics card does nothing mate, I would look at temperature problems, with what you say its when you start to stress the computer slightly which will increase the temps.....
After it switches off, boot in bios (press F2 or Del key when it booting up) and check the temperatures in there.
If the CPU is high then it might be worth re-seating it and see if that reduces the temperature, if the case temp is high then remove the side off the case, see if that makes a difference. If that sorts it you will need to add a couple of fans inside. One at the front bottom sucking air in and one under the PSU on the back at the top to suck the air out.......
Lets us know if you get anywhere with these......
biggrin
It might also be worth seeing if there are any updated drivers for your graphics card, just because it's an easy thing to try. (But I agree it's most likely to be the graphics card slowly dying...)

see flirty i told u this lot on here would be a great help there are all a font of info smile :) now on another note if u need any help at all with the making of a pot noodle meal im ur girl :!: :!: lol
I agree with the suggestions so far in trying to pinpoint what the problem is.
Try and see if you can remember if you are loading anything (opening a program) and how long your PC has been running for already.
As there isn't enough information been given back to us we can only suggest what is happening.
It 'sounds' like (educated guess) that it is indeed the graphics card as it is affecting mainly the display only. You may have to check and see if you've updated the drivers for the said card, or if you've installed anything new lately before it started to happen.
How long has it been doing this? How many beeps does your PC give before it shuts down/restarts? Does it happen after a specific ammount of time using the PC? Does it happen when you load/run a specific program? What operating system are you using (windows xp, vista)?
Let us know how the card changing goes and try and answer as best you can if more problems happen.
Try downloading '3DMark05', google it and run it, if its a graphics or temperature related problem then its sure to die whilst running that.
Also, click start and in the 'run' box type 'eventvwr' and have a look in there for any errors at the time of the crash then google what you find.
To be honest, i doubt very much if the graphics card itself was knackered, as they arent the kind of things that will die slowly....they either die or work. I would say its a driver or temp issue.
Try updating your graphics drivers, chipset drivers and sound drivers and see if that helps.
