Hi Peeps,
Its Funin and Mike here,
I would like to explain a problem we have with peoples' attitudes both from this site as well as friends of mine and Mikes'.
You see I myself am very well known within the site and have met some fantastic friends.
Alot of my/our friends are aware that due to a recent severe exasperated down turn with my spine I now have to use a wheelchair 99% of the time.
My genuine friends have accepted this which is great.
What we are getting fed up about is the pathetic remarks from people who both know me and don't know me stating : " Well thats a shame no more sex/shagging/playing etc".
Well I/we would like to explain that people in wheelchairs, a majority anyway, can have sexal pleasure as much or in some cases more than everyone else.
Another problem I have is that we went to a party at the weekend. To get to the venue we had to go through the main bar.
To our HORROR to whole pub just went deathly silent and everyone then proceeded to just stare at the wheelchair.
I am now quite concerned something might happen at the NW Munch where people just stare looking at my wheelchair instead of me.
I am not looking for pity here or at the munch.
I AM THE SAME FUNIN AS I WAS BEFORE THE NEED OF THE WHEELCHAIR.
PLEASE BARE THIS IN MIND WHEN CHATTING TO ME.
I AM STILL A PERSON NOT A VEGETABLE.
TO END THIS i WOULD AGAIN LIKE TO THANK OUR GENUINE FRIENDS WHO WE KNOW WILL SUPPORT US DURING THE EVENING.
Many Thanks,
Funin and Mike xx
Funin babes,
When I see your chair coming into the munch next Saturday, I'm running over to give you a big smacker on your lips.
I for one will be happier to see you in the wheelchair than I was to see you in that hospital bed !
My only concern will be whether I damage your chair when I come to sit on your knee.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
You'll be warmly welcomed, Funin, don't you worry one little bit lol

hi funnin
you are right and everyone has a right to have fun so do you or any other person in wheelchair....
but you cant change some people...
well funin looking forward to talk to you in thr tub and if i get a chance to meet you,
am sure u will lve it xxx
Funin these people really arent worth the time of day mad
People as shallow as that dont deserve your time being pissed off at them, and i dont blame you for it either.
Unfortunately theres not a lot you can do about peoples attitudes other than rise above them and be the better person, that way youll always come out on top!!
Funin,
You are so wise to bring this up. However, sympathetic people might be, just the surprise can cause an unfortunate reaction - no excuse for it I know but it does happen.
Makes me wish I could be there (at the Munch) even more now!!
Enjoy the meet. I know you're very highly regarded from the reaction when you returned - so don't worry!
Funnin;
You made me cry.
Thankyou for a wonderful post - and I am sure it will make some people think
Paul xx

I'm not sure how 'wheelchair friendly' the entrance to the pub is but everything's on the ground floor and I'm pretty sure there's a disabled person's toilet. If there isn't a ramp to get get you up the step to the front door then there'll be 199 other people there keen to lend a hand.

I don't believe that will happen for a minute. The people that have been to the previous munches just haven't been that small minded. You already know lots of people that are going and many of them are personal friends, just look forward to meeting the rest and having a damn good time.

That's what happens when you go commando! lol
See you there!!
Steve
Funun I know where you're coming from as previous couple here in notts had one partner who was wheel chair bound, I belive he was also a T6 but not sure....
If I may, i'd also like to play devils advocate a little...
Some of the questions about playing/sex etc may be just curiosity... I actually think that posting the message here is quite a good idea as I'ts probably answered a question others may wonder about :-)
Some one in a wheel chair can be initially awkward to talk to, there is a whole rake of potential things people will worry about such as "do I lower myself to talk to the person, or will that seem condecending?" "Will my talking to the person make me seem like I'm making a special effort or just being social?" and so on...
I know from my experience with the previously mentioned couple that I was worried about making a fool of myself, or putting my foot in it! But as it went once I had got over my own worrys then the disability became a non-issue and I cant say that I even really thought about the wheel chair being there after that.
Hopefully I will see you both at the party as I should be going if funds allow as they are looking tight at the moment; if not then I hope you both have a great time :-)

Too many people are small minded.
We look forward to meeting you at the munch.
If I was you Funin' I'd be far more worried about my wheelchair buckling under the weight of all the people trying to get on your knee.
If people are narrow minded about it then they probably aren't people you'd be close to anyway, their loss.
See you there passionkiss

Funin' can you post a pic of what you'll be wearing so we know who to look out for?
:P lol (joke, although probably in bad taste and bound to offend someone).
I (well, we) won't care if you're in a chair or not, but I may have to come down to you to talk to you as I have a slight hearing difficulty (misspent youth at very loud clubs) so please don't take it as condiscending. biggrin
Look forward to meeting you there.
easy.
Thanks for posting this Funin........I know we were all concerned when you were in the hospital and we'd much rather see you out and about in a wheelchair than in the hospital or stuck at home......
I won't be going to the Munch so I won't be able to say hello.....but the wheelchair wouldn't bother me one little bit (although if I was drunk enough I might try to sit on you LoL).....
Looks like you should prepare yourself to be inundated at the party funin!

Oh crap lol I'm still not Bi hun so keep your hands to yourself when I give ya a hug :giggle:
Babes the fact your going to make the munch is really all that counts. The wheelchair makes no difference to the person you are which is exactly what worries me kiss
See you Saturday
Dawn :silly:
TY PEEPS FOR ALL UR SUPPORT XX
I HAVE JUST LOST ALL CONFIDENCE ESP AFTER THE EPISODE LAST WEEKEND AND AFTER SPEAKING TO A GR8 MATE OF MINE THAT IS NO LONGER A MATE AFTER THE CONVERSATION I HAD WITH HIM.
HE SO BELITTLED ME.
hUGS TO YOU ALL ON SATURDAY XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Funin,
I joined the site during your illness and so I never knew you before, rest assured that whether you stand 6 ft tall or not, your situation makes no difference to me. I can't wait to meet you .. I've heard a great deal and trust me you WILL make lots of new friends and they won't give a damn about the chair.
Love to you
oooooo funin im so sorry your ex friend made you feel so bad
big hugs dont worry about there attitude
its their loss not yours
Funin, I hate to say it.... but.... I reckon you had them wrong in that pub. They were actually thinking "well there goes the winner of the nekkid wheelchair race" lol
Seriously as someone else said, it can be a bit daunting at first (the whole do you kneel.. etc), but one of my mates who is wheelchair bound has an evil SOH and seems to gather a crowd every time. AND, he gets to ogle breasts without being criticised.... every cloud... ;)
You are still the same person you were before you were poorly.
Dave_Notts and I are looking forward to meeting you at the munch.
Hi Funin wave
What a lovely thought-provoking post that was. I am so pleased you are going to be at the Munch again, and I promise to treat you just the same as before (though I may have to resist the urge to let your tyres down !!!!) wink lol
Funin, I really feel for you having to adjust - it's tough to do but you will get there. Judging from what I've seen of you around here since you came out of hospital, you haven't changed at all. Still the adorable, friendly, gorgeous, sociable girl ........ the only difference is that now you're sat down.
I don't think anyone will bat an eyelid at the fact you're in a wheelchair - but most of us will be rather concerned as to how you're feeling, as we haven't seen you since the last munch.
Think you will find that it's just your presence that turns heads rather than the wheelchair, you do seem to fill a room with fun single handedly  :lol2:
funin kiss
i've been trying to find the right words here all day, and still no nearer saying anything that seems to read right. all i know is i'll be damn pleased to see you and mike there, and looking forward to it all the more since i found you'd be going. it says something of your spirit that you haven't let that unpleasantness completely put you off going, and i'm glad of it! it's great to see you back!
