Inspired by Jags reaction to one of my greetings, what pet names do you call people you know, or ur parters, which either you use to death, or annoy you to the point of murdr.
I'll start it off with the one which is sweeping the country: chicken
As in hello chicken, or whats up chick. Especially used by Michelle in BB, it is now one of the most heard creeting names in the country. Who's next up?
Verdicts can, of course, be given. Not that anyone could stop that anyway... :P
Hmmmm........ I don't think I have a particular one for people I like, but when I'm angry with someone I always call them "Pal" - so, be warned! wink
I've got a pet name in my head at the moment that I can't get rid of ......................................
HONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep calling DB this but he has said recently that he does not like it (or any derivative thereof!) redface
I also use chick a lot but this is not from BB (because I don't watch it!!!)
CA xxx
Yes, Wulf called me 'chicken' in a PM   CHICKEN???
I may live in Newcastle but I'm not from here - but have NEVER heard anyone use the word 'chicken' in real life. Someone called me 'dear' the other day, in a formal situation, and he barely came out alive!! lol
Mr Redbird and I call each other "babe". I always used to think it sounded really corny when I heard other people using it but it just seems so right for us
i tend to call everyone "darling" "petal" or my favourite at the moment "poppet"
not good when you are a customer care manager and you have to be professional on the phone............

They say Chicken on BB? Good for them.
I've said it for years, along with Sausage, Spud, Flower, Petal, Hun, Honey, Lover, Love, Babe, Babes, Dear, Dearie and Fuckwit.
I think it is because I am shallow and forget peoples names (Like my children, for eg)
Oi, shithead comes to mind..............

Oi, shithead

Mmm?
"My duck" but I've got to be sure she's in a good mood otherwise I'm in trouble.
Sweetie.
I've gotten into the habit of calling people Sweetie over the last couple of years. No one has ever complained.
The one I find very hard to tolerate is "Dear" Especially when said by an older male to a female in a certain condescending way.
C's mother uses it often. It used to really get on my breasssssssts. She can deliver it THE most condescending way - and there's only about eight years between us.
I call most people ´MATE´
Therefore most folk think I am from OZ when I am away.
The WHOOSH Man
I used to work in Stoke a while back.
There they use 'Sug' (as in sugar) and 'ducks' - I have to admit to liking the potteries people - so I'm quite fond of those!
I use sweetheart a lot for my family.
It's not only the term used, but the tone in which it is used. I am here in Yorkshire where people address others (except males to other males) as "luv" but there are many levels of irony possible in the way in which it is intoned. At my work I sometimes have to phone other businesses, and I can always tell when the person I am speaking to is entertaining an audience by calling me "luv" every third word in a heavy sarcastic tone....not that I object, I can give as good as I get. smile
Mike.
Being a York lad I generally say pet, hunny, sweetie, gorgeous or just darling.
I try my best to stay away from babe as it can get confused with a small pigglet on TV.
For people I hold dear to me I use angel and sexy but I usually use something that that person likes. My GF is an absolute princess, is really sexy and can be quite angelic. So obviously I like to remind her that she is them things.
I find pet is a playful saying and so can be darling. I could never say those words in a bad or negative way and mean it.

Mike.

It used to be fairly common in Sheffield for men to use the term "Luv" to other men. It's not only irony that can be intoned. The manner (not Manor) it was said can be quite intimidating if used in the right/wrong way.
I often call my kids, gorgeous or beautiful, but theyre special!
I call Steve Darling or arsehole depending on my mood (or his!) :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Thats funny, i always assumed that your pet name for me was either
'Make me a drink'
or
'I'm hungry, what you doing for tea?'
