Do you have problems with your pets when you go away on holiday for a few days or out for a day trip?
Hubby and I are going to Spain for a few days so hubby has had to sneak the bag out to the car today when the cat wasn't looking or she would have been hysterical and running around the house like a maniac cause we were 'abandoning her' rolleyes
When we get home I know she will be very snitty with us and turn her back on us, even though she is glad to see us back. Punishment for daring to leave her for even a few days.

surprised Can relate to that Devon.
If going away not able to pack things till a couple of hours before I leave.
Even then at least one of the cats tries to get into bag or suitcase.
When I get back get the sulks and the punishment for daring to go away and leave them.
It's as though should ask permission before going away.
One will wander of for at least 36 hours and the other 2 just refuse to come near me.
The joys of pets. lol
:smile2:
I wish our cats would wander off for 36 hours, or more if they liked.
Den.
P.S sorry Maz when you read this, but its true, i really do despise the wee F@@kers!
my dog the same the minute she sees a holdall or suitcase she runs into panic mode and becomes a draught excluder at the back door so we cant excape without her even if its just the child going to his nans for a couple days. last couple of holidays we have had she has come with us bit restricting to say the least (deks choise not mine)if we dont lock her in the kitchen before we go out she escapes and tries to get in the car with us
going to france for 2 weeks in the summer leaving her with deks parents which i know she will hate without her daddy to fuss over her n her space in the middle of our bed
If I go away for a few days I just leave out extra food for my cat. When I get home he usually pounces on me and demands extra attention. After longer holidays he can be really clingy, following me round the house all day. biggrin

do we share the same cat? lol
We've got a pair of large Huskies and when ever I'm away for a few days with work, the female sulks and will do nothing that Mrs DD tells her, she just turns her back and wonders off into another part of the house (strange that I have this effect on women rolleyes)
The young one has decided that when I'm away, he needs to look after the garden for me and digs effing great holes all over the place so its looking a little like the surface of the moon for my return..
I can put up with it for the welcome that I receive from them once I get back home. No one is allowed near me for at least an hour whilst they both try to sit on my lap and wash me.. (not so much fun as one is 43kgs and the other is 45 kgs! blink )

We love ours to bits!! We have a pair of Malumute Huskies (take a glance at our avatar thingy!) neither came out of the factory too tightly wrapped though.. :silly:
The young one (2 years old now) walks backwards, wagging his head...
Nice to know that there are fellow husky people on SH!! Give yours a hug from us please Fire!!!

P.S sorry Maz when you read this, but its true, i really do despise the wee F@@kers!

nah, he loves them really!!
Ours don't seem to care-they love going away! My parents cats used to do the exact same little sulk, pretentding they didn't know you, right up until around dinner time!
Our kittens now prefer when we go away cos it means they get to stay at my mum and dads- in a much bigger house than ours, and their garden is huge- they love it!
Den just never wants to go back and pick them up again...
Hmmmmm... bit of a sore subject with me today!
I take time off work to look after my doggy when my folks go on holiday. I've never been able to bear the thought of him stuck in kennels so I use my holidays. I don't really mind cause I get to spend some quality time with him down the beach which he loves.
However, I thought I'd be smart and save my days by doing a week of half days so he could be left in the house but not all day. I asked at work if this was okay a fortnight ago and it was agreed. So my folks booked their holiday and I advised my boss that I'd be doing afternoons next week. Now he's being a total w*nker and said that he'd rather I did mornings. This is a total nightmare cause to be able to leave the dog in the house for a few hours means I have to spend the week at my parents house. I'd have to get up at ridiculous o'clock in the morning to have time to walk him and make it through rush hour traffic and get into town by 9am.
I explained that it would be a nightmare to do it this way and the end result is that I'm having to take the whole week off leaving me with 9 days holiday for the rest of the year! sad
This should probably be in the steam room... sorry, rant over! smile
However... on a cute note when my parents started to pack last time they went away, my mum left the bag open in the hall and when she came back to get it Monty was in the bag looking up at her! Bless! biggrin
I have a GSD who is my baby, im at home all day with him and he constantly follows me everywhere, if im on the pc, he lies behind me. If im on the sofa, he lies on the floor with his head on the edge of the sofa. He hates being left, if i go up town, he just looks soooo sad and "sheepy". We dont put him in kennels when we go on holiday, he wouldnt cope, my son stays at home to look after him.
However, altho this is fine for Max, he is really MY dog and im sure he cant wait for me to return home (well thats what i like to think anyway ) smile
Suze xx
I remember when we had three cats. My parents went away on holiday for thr first time without myself or my sister. We knew when my parents were due to arrive home as the cats assembled themselves outside the front gate and sat down until my parents arrived. When my parents car turned into our road, all of the cats stood up! How did they know?!
If I leave my Pussy alone for more than a few hours it kicks up a fuss.
Was I really the first? REALLY??
lol
I have a white alsation, that gets the strops with me and my mum/dad if we go out and leave her on her own,
When we come back she ignores us for about 2 days smile
Who says only teenagers can be stroppy eh .
Now I'm home all day,I'd love to have a dog. I've been pining for years but could never really afford the time to look after it properly.
The only thing stopping me now is that there will be no one to take care of it when I am away.
We've had caged pets - hamsters, guinea pig etc but people don't mind popping round and replacing the water and shoving a carrot through the bars. Dogs take up so much time and space.
Oh, and I despise cats. evil
Simple answer to the cat problem - teach them to drive!
Dog's just chewed the top off the butt plug! mad
Must've sensed we're going to the Bristol Munch.
.
My cats have a knack for finding tampons, chewing them up out the packet, and leaving them lying around the house- especially when we're due a visitor.
They seem to also enjoy bringing the tampon in to show the visitor, in the hope that visitor might dangle the chewed tampon in front of them for a fun game of 'catch the snatch mouse'....
