just answered a post regarding the return of celeb get me the feck outta here.......
RATS
are people frightened of them???
some interesting facts....
1!new statistics claim if you live in a city you are never further than 3.5 metres away from a rat (men not included)
2)rats have no bladder so urinate constantly...wields disease can be caught from the urine (liver and eye failure)
popular myth states a rat will attack if cornered...this is false as a rat will try at all costs to escape even by trying to climb up you to get away...only as a last resort will they stand and fight but never go for you smile
out of all the rodents that are kept as pets...the rat is by far the best to handle as they do not bite ...unless hurt.....they get very friendly and can be taught to use a toilet.
i myself have seen thousands...have had them run over my feet...climb in my pocket and even drop on my shoulder and never suffered anything than a slight jump at the 1 dropping on my shoulder lol......
we could go on about spiders and snaakes etc......
so come on ..i cant for the life of me think why some people cannot abide creepies etc...what does it for you(and not like that lol)
dargento
wasps
eeeeeeeeuuuuuuuugggghhhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyuuuuuuuuukkkkkkkkkk
I think I'm just shit scared of them stinging me though!
I love rats cool
Creepy crawlies don't scare me... in fact I'm really quite fond of the big fuck off spider that makes an appearance in my bathroom occassionally... scares the shit out of my 3 year old who makes it an excuse not to clean his teeth rolleyes though.
Something that i have a total phobia about though --- escalators............ hate the fecking things :uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh:
i like rats, used to keep them as pets, also used to feed them to the snake.....not the pet ones tho lol
my only big fear is water
My only fear is snakes in the wild.
can feel the goosebumps coming up at the thought,
ooooo 'she who must be obeyed' is terrified of water as well. She even gets all wibbly when I'm going out on my boat and she's no where near the bloomin water.
really good friend of mine loved her pet rat...she had a patterdale terrier too and it used to play fight with the rat...it used to beg off her when she was eating...
unfortunately it got savaged off a friends westie and she literally went into deep mourning....pet cemetery and wearing black....
stange...but true

snakes are great, highly under estimated in my opinion lol
I dont mind rats (or any rodents) so long as they don't try to co-habit with me.
I have had them run over my feet many a time in the garden when we used to keep chickens. Never bothered me at all.
Although I can tolerate then, I'm not overly keen on Spiders or most insects.
But I HATE Woodlice with a passion.
I so bloody scared of spiders the big ones tho...dont really mind the smaller ones but the big buggers just scare the crap out of me but being on my own has made me face my phobia at times and well a glass and newspaper help being handy as i dont like to kill them...they might have babies
Cant really think of any others but i hate heights ...but tolerate it if i need to....
Im fine with the wee furry critters and most insects too
BUT earwigs EEEWWWWWWW
And to make it worse i read in the sunday post the other week about a woman who had one burrowing into her ear while she was sleeping!!! I am now currently on ebay looking for a divers helmet so i can sleep properly at night

Oh flippin heck - I forgot earwigs!
That is a childhood phobia as my Dad used to cultivate dahlias - and those pesky earwigs LOVE dahlias.
When we used to cut the flowers for the house I'd spend hours shaking them to get rid of the earwigs - but at least one of the little devils would cling on and come trotting out in the evening when you are watching TV and find it's way onto the couch with you! yuk!
yup earwigs have got bo the worst thing ever but i may just be saying that cos im slightly biased what with me dowsing my drawers if one comes near me
but why???
i mean....whats the reason....
an earwig cannot harm you in any way and the ear things are just to frighten you....
it was reported in a national rag a few years ago that a fox ran in through an open conservatory and attacked a young girl for no reason....
does that mean we should have phobias about foxes as they "CAN" do damage to you???
lol i just dont know or understand how lovely little critters can have such a reputation smile

But aren't most phobias, by their very nature, irrational?
hmmmmmm - is the plural of phobia, phobias or is phobia the plural of phobium perhaps? confused
PS - as a kid I used to bring all kinds of things home, slowworms, grasssnakes, newts, toads......my Mum loved me! rolleyes
most of it comes from when we are small
If you mum screams when she sees a mouse and your little it imprints on you that they are something to be scared of, so in my cse its probably happened when ive been small
i KNOW that they are not gonna hurt me, and i know that in a fight i would kick its little pronged ass but its an irrational fear
some folk are scared of pidgeons, some snakes, some spiders, with me its earwigs
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
like spiders dont mind mice ..rats that are pets.
But cockroches arrrrrrrrrrrrrr .
Puts me off going to really hot places there just horrid
Triskaidekaphobia......
now thats a real phobia lol
Ants for me. Can't stand them. I can handle a few dozen crawling around but after the shower incedent. urgh.
One hot summers day I had just finihsed the garden. Went for a nice shower. Noticed a little ant on the curtain rail. Squish. Noticed another. Squish.
Went through about five of them not thinking anything of it. 'Must of been on me when I was in the garden' I thought.
Open the curtain rail and reached for the hanging towel. Saw a couple of black things fall off it as I pulled it closer. Looked down. OMFG!!!!! The floor was over run with the buggers. Flying ants, Maggots and hundreds and thousands (not the sweet toppings) of little black ants running around.
Found out the house had a couple nests underneith it. I moved out until I knew they were all dead. Now that is a phobia but against ants that I know the common garden variety don't do harm but in numbers it just looks a little different.
good job you live hare matt and not in africa lol.....

Thanks Dargento. Just shat meself thinking about that. Looking at the huge Ant hills with the flesh eating ones. Great images to be had.
were very lucky in this country in regards to dnageous insects.....
the only thing we have really (apart form the chance if you live on the south coast of being smacked in the face by a 4 inch stag beetle) are wolf spiders....
now the winters tend to be warmer (ahem) they can live for 3 years or so making the largest big enough to bite us and reach through the epidermis.. even then at the worst it would give a slight itch as very few spiders have poweful venom.... eg tarantulas venom is 1 tenth the strength of a bee sting....
quite pleased actually...i thought most would be scared of rats.....
as i think there are more "old wives tales" regarding them than any other animal.
Spiders - of any shape/size scare me to death. even if i see them on pictures in magazines.
have only manged to watch bits of arachnophobia because it gives me palpatations..
i get palpaeaeions having sex....is that normal???
My biggest phobia is Needles & injections
They turn me to jelly
I can not watch people inject on the television i have to look away and it make my knee hurt
I did once have to give an unconcious diabetic a glucose injection
That did not bother me because it was a serious medical situation and i was more concerned about his well being
Bi-Guy-Notts
not so much a phobia but something i realy hate
Wet leaves mad
