Sounds good - I can't think of any problem with what you suggest. A site I used to use (Excite Personals - now deceased) required registering to place an ad, but as I recall not to reply to one. However, email addresses were not shown on ads so people only got your email if you chose to reply. There were a lot of fake ads, prostitutes and porn sites advertising on it even though there was a registration process, but it did mean that your email address wasn't made public and thus less open to abuse. I think having to register to reply, as well as to place an ad, would be positive as it would make nutcases think twice about sending abuse if they think they're being monitored.
My dear boy! I hope u ain`t forgetting u have to get all this done in time to go to the BALL! Yor eyedeers sownd good to me , but I havent got the foggyest idea wot u have 2 do to fix the system but u deserve a night at the Ball all the same. Funny how things work out eh??? sorry aboot ma spellin an all But keep on wanking it out ! Victor...
Mark,
I think your proposals are sound and would cut down on some of the fakes and spammers. On the subject of guys placing ads in the wrong sections I did raise this a while back and would suggest a simple fix-insert the words "looking to meet" in the titles of all the categories which would then read:
couples looking to meet couples
couples looking to meet men
etc
that would make the categories clear and unambigous and cut out all the bad data which clearly pisses off others as well as me.

Hi Mark, the idea sounds great, how about putting a signiture box with each ad, if anyone that is on here regularly has met up or can confirm that they are genuine, then sign the box.
It might help to weedle out the "none genuine" ones, just a thought mate.
Mark and Linda,
Oh yes, forgot to say, we fucking love this site, xx
HI,
An idea for making sure that users are genuine is to use like does is a email confermation that includes a code word in a funny picture so as to stop automatic systems doing fake ads.
Or second option is wipe all the ads and start fresh with a new system

Hey there,
I did not know that bots doing the registering.
I am sure that your new system will be excellent and start to get rid of the fakes.

Hi all, new to the site. Been looking around and it seems well designed and thought. Good one Mark looks like you have most things covered, but since you ask here are my suggestions.
- Use the same membership for the photo ads as for the forum
- Make the date of when the ad was placed more prominant.
- Make it possible to view ads in various orders. ie location, date posted etc
Auto delete posts after a period of say 1 month, but allow people to delete ads sooner if they wish, either as an option when posting the ad or at a later date.
This is probably a load of work, but think its probably worth it
