There are a number of places that are worth seeing at least once before you die. Personally the top 15 places i want to see before i die are (in no particular order)
1. Angkor Wat (cambodia)
2. Taj Mahal (India)
3. Pyramid of Kukulucan (mexico)
4. Petra (Jordan)
5. Wat Phra Kaeo (Thailand)
6. Karnak Temple (Egypt)
7. Jaisalmer Fort (India)
8. Machu Picchu (Peru)
9. Ephesus (Turkey)
10. Monet's Garden (France)
11. Yangshuo (China)
12. Dubrovnik (Croatia)
13. Samarkand (Uzbekistan)
14. Killary Harbour (Ireland)
15. Valley of the Kings (Egypt)
I recommend taht people google some of these places as they are truley spectacular. What does everyone else want to see?
Pikes Peak hillclimb in Denver Colarado
Bathurst 1000 In Australia.
I'm not asking for much - The Grand Canyon, on horseback, Route66 on a Harley , and the Northern Lights at their most spectacular are on my 'you cant pop ya clogs til you've seen this' list lol
I'd love to see the Barrier Reef, walk the Great Wall of China & hike in rainforests to see Gorillas a la Ms Fossey and see wild elephants in their natural habitat - and be able to touch one. On principal though I dont agree with it, for every one of us that wants to, there's another 1000 tourists doing it dunno

I'd love to see wild animals like Lions and Tigers etc in their natural habitat but as you say there are too many tourists doing it ....
Just want to add The Galapogos Islands. I went there a few years back. Absolutely amazing. The wildlife has no fear of man and will come right up to you. Had a sealion swim between my legs as we walked knee deep along a stream. You've gotta go lol

It was ahell of a trip. Cuba, Equador (stood on the equator one foot in the north and one foot in the south) and 3 days cruising round the islands.
Save your pennies (or rather £s or £100s) and go
I dearly want to do the first on the list and hoped to make it this year but had to drop it due to other committments... smile :)
Next year maybe

I have to agree with the sentiments expressed by some others here... several places i would dearly love to see... though the prospect of all the other similar minded tourists turns me right off....

If you ever go to Macchu Picchu make sure you stay over night at the hotel. That way you get to roam the site for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening without hundreds of tourists
No one said they'd like to visit my bedroom

Going to Petra in Jordan later in the year..... the rose red city... looks amazing.
The Wadi Rum also looks like a brilliant place to go....
The sandstone pillars rising up out of the desert as if they were placed there.
One place I would love to visit is the Great Wall of China..... so much history and a fascinating culture.

not just the tourists, as in 'other people'...but the damage caused to the environment by everyone who goes there.
I watched a documentary a few years ago about the Great Barrier reef, and how simply by being there & disturbing the delicate eco-system we will eventually destroy it...'souvenier' bits of live coral, for example
There are many places I'd like to see, but it wont be my boots trampling on ancient trails contributing to their destruction, allowing wild animals to become so familiar with 'man' that they dont run from danger, or wanting a hotel built in the middle of a rainforest.

I've only recently been able to afford travel out of this country so my list is huge, but one ambition of 30+ years which would seem quite small compared to some of the previous posters ambitions is to go to Amsterdam. Hubby and I are finally going this April :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Machu Picchu has always been a place i have fancied to got to, dont know why but fasinates the hell out of me, hmm got some study time now
The other place would be space, if you got £100,000 you can go up in virgins new plane in a few years time. i have been up to over 62,000 ft in fighter aircraft absoultly awesome, so thats the only thing that could top it for me. have to plunb in a lot of pipes for that kind of money though.
