I've just watched Polar Express and it was LOVELY!
The folk from the chatroom know that I'm normally a right bah humbug Scrooge type but right now I feel all yummy inside with the magic of Christmas. :smile2:
Whether you've got kids or not, this film is well worth forking out at the cinema for (not that I did thanks to Dodgy Dave at the bookies ....)
So I'm wondering, with Christmas a-coming, what's your favourite and most-hated Christmas movie?
Last year, my mum got me Its a Wonderful Life on DVD cos I'm the only person over 30 who hadn't seen it - and I still haven't got round to watching it!
I think Jack Frost has got to be up there with the all-time faves.
Along the theme of the film - what did you believe about Christmas and Santa when you were a kid?
I was told the usual stuff - you have to be good in the run-up to Crimbo and he won't leave any pressies if you're not asleep when he gets there. Of course, the sleigh bells would ring as the reindeer landed on the roof-top and Mr C himself would slide down the chimney. if you'd been naughty you'd just get a bag of cinders.
I never questioned it. I believed! Till some nasty little shit at school told me the truth. evil
Over to you, folks ... apologies if any of this has been done before - i did do a search.
Bah hum bug, ill be spending my time with my Jehova whitnes friends, oh and ive given up drinking and smoking tabs lol nice ad tho
Thanks for the recommendation Marya. I was torn between taking the little 'un to see Polar Express (her choice) or The Incredibles (my choice). Looks like I might have to do both now lol
My fav is a bit strange really (like me) - Gremlins. Not really an Xmas film but set at that time of year.
Nearly forgot - National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
The Incredibles is brilliant too! I don't know which one to suggest to you. My daughter's 6 and she likes both films - but I like them more!

I'm over 30 and I've never seen it either!
The only remotely christmassy film I like is .
"It's a Wonderful Life" is very good, Marya, you should make time to watch it soon. The one that still gives me most goosebumps - every time, is "The Snowman". :upset:
Mike.
What about a new thread?
"Fave Christmas Films"
Straight in at my Number 1 would be National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
(I know, not very deep, but still has me in tears when I watch it)
biggrin
I like the Muppets Christmas Carol with Michael Caine as Scrooge. It has been years since I saw it. I think it is on again this Christmas. Lots of jokes to keep the adults as well as the kids amused.
Drifter (Just a big kid at heart!)
one youve probably never heard of but one magic christmas, its got an angel in it called gidian (think thats how you spell it) pretty good if your in a christmas film type of mood

My name isn't Dave, and do you go in my bookies ? lol
Not a movie but a few years ago Ross Kemp did a tv version of scrooge set in modern times thought that was pretty good but I dont think they have ever repeated it. Think I liked it because it had a hard edge to it and anything soft makes me wanna blubber which the mrs finds highly amusing...why am I telling you people that redface
yep saw the ross kemp one that was a cracker hope they repeat it one day
My all time favourite Christmas film just has to be A Miracle on 34th Street. Has me blubbing every time! I didn't see the original, but it was released in the mid to late 90s and has Sir Richard Attenborough as Santa Claus and - well couldn't you just hug him to bits? Aawwwwwwww!!! Love it biggrin

We watched that on video the other night. Fantastic film.
I first watched it's a wonderfull life about 10 years ago and just fell in love with it. It's a great film, but it can be a bit emotional at the end so have the tissues ready.
The best Scrooge of all-time is the Alec Guiness version, bloody fantastic even now.
I also enjoy Bill Murreys Scrooged, especially the fairy character. lol

It was a teacher at school who told us. She did it every year, the interfering old bag.... so I went home & said to Mum "Does Santa really exist?" & she replied "Oh dear, Mrs Pawsey has told you hasn't she". That said, I'm doing well, coz I think she was a mad old bag.... & I still believe biggrin :D :D

Watched Mickey's twice upon a christmas last week and that was cool
All time favourite christmas film must be the Muppets one
But all time fave childrens film is a choice of either bedknobs and broomsticks or Mary Poppins lol
