After the news that the Pope is relenting on condoms, this led to a rather interesting conversation....
1 Are there any Catholic swingers on here and how do they relate/practice 'safe sex' swinging before this Papal dispensation, or was the Bareback room a secret code for catholics?
2 Are we now about to be deluged with a whole new group of swinging members, Catholics joining the site with this new found freedom?
Hi Gufun..
I am chuckling...
We are of that disposition, but the great thing about Catholicism is that most of us think the rules are there to be broken.. that includes many of the clergy!
Few of our friends who are Catholic adhere strictly to the Church's view on contraception; our parents probably did, but times move on and today's congregation largely take a pragmatic view and will answer for that to their God in due course...
I doubt there are many who felt unable to join this special club here because they were forbidden from using contraception. The Church takes a grave view about the inclusiveness of marriage and the liberal attitudes we might adopt compared with the use of the odd rubber...

Just the thought that the rules would preclude Catholics from doing anything they like is hilarious.....they just confess and everything is ok wink

I can hear the "Hail Mary's" coming thick and fast.. lol

Is that the Catholic version of 'Oh my God' or 'Jesus Christ', as exclaimed when people are about to come?
I see he stated that condoms should still not be used for contraception, but could be used to prevent disease.
I guess that's the priests and the alter boys taken care of then.....

I work with a girl who has strong catholic beliefs. She says that if she were to marry, then divorce would not be an option in the eyes of her church, but to murder her husband and then repent is acceptable.
So that's why she keeps a sharpened axe under her desk lol
If 10 year old alter boys could get pregnant he’d have relented long ago
I'm just bloody glad that this might mean the end of missionaries going to HIV/AIDs ridden parts of poorly educated countries and spouting church led lies about 'holes in condoms so small that HIV and AIDs virus can get through anyway, so there is no point using them'... etc. It is a step in the right direction and one which, no doubt, will be clarified to take it back at some point. confused I don't like this pope and never will. Some of the things I've heard have been taught in this country alone, should make people hang their heads in shame for allowing it to continue.
Give people the proper information and then let them make their own mind up. Heaven knows Catholics have been making their own minds up on the quiet for years! lol

well, that would be the end of every religious organisation overnight. Look at what happened when the Bible was translated so people could actually read it - millions of normal people realised the preists had been lying to them for generations.
Religious belief is one thing, on a personal level - but being told what to believe by people whose power is increased by that very belief is just asking for the system to be abused on a vast scale.
You say this like the end of religious organisations would be bad thing?
I'm not sure what would or could fill the power vacuum behind it as it went, and it could well be a case for better the devil you know, if you'll pardon the pun! smile
We're lucky in the UK that we have access to lots and lots of information on a daily basis to enable us to make choices, for the good or for the bad depending on personal interpretations. I know that I am more than capable of taking the bits that I want and leaving the bits that I don't. If that means I'm not a true follower, then so be it, I can live with my choices.
What I find it hard to live with sometimes is the waffle some are fed in the name of religion (and believe) to elevate someone else to position of 'power and might' which their views, in my opinion, don't warrant the paper their written on or the air they've taken up. But, that is the thing with religion, it relies a lot on faith and trust. Followers and leaders, etc.
Anyway, all these things aside, I do think it is a step forward for Catholic doctrine.
