Post Locking?.....

Earlier today Bignetsuke posted a simple question asking for help..... the thread was locked by a mod before she got an answer.
I asked why this was and if you follow the thread http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/swingers-forum/viewtopic/32920.html- you'll see it was because the question asked was not relevant to swinging or humourous?
I posted a couple of replies pointing out this seemed a bit harsh, and then in effect got slagged off and told not to 'upset Mods'!!!!!!!!!
Now I'm really puzzled as to why a mod decided this post should be locked- and with such a negative attitude as well as this is the Cafe - and is for - and I quote......
The Cafe - For General discussion and chit Chat
and to quote the Posting Guidelines.....
"The Cafe is for anything and everything"
And
"we try to run a relaxed forum, We're all adults and this is NOT an attempt to restrict free speech or stifle diversity"
So I'm just a bit puzzled really - there are certainly far worse posts - often by SH regulars that don't get canned?
Don't want to create shit - but it just seemed heavy handed - something I have noticed coming in to the forum for a while now -
Just wondering what others think? Am I alone in thinking this? Or should I just - as was advised to me in a PM - Fight the battles I can Win?..... hhhmmm... me not enjoying this room as much these days confused

Answers to your questions (My opinions only.)
What others think - the mods on here do a difficult unpaid job for very little recognition, they have to make a decision and aren't about to have every one discussed in the forum, live with it!
Are you alone? - Yes, get over it! At the end of the day we all are.
Should you just fight the battles you can win? - Yep, because this one surfaces every few weeks and just pisses everyone off.
Not enjoying the room? - Simple answer - find the door!

lincskate.....I'm afraid the rules aren'y as relaxed as they used to be....if you go off topic then yea the thread gets locked. I do think there should be maybe another thread where you talk about just anything.....But in the end mate just got to bite your tongue and get on with it.....but I do have to say we have lost alot alot of good people because of the tight on topic policy.

I dunno Dean, I`m terrible for hijacking and posting complete crap, but as far as I know, have only had the one thread locked, and that was for inadvertantly breaking very clear rules.
I think the problem the mods have here is trying to please the many. As often as you will find random meaningless topics, you will also find topics started by people who are fed up to the back teeth of random meaningless topics. I think the reasons stated in the original thread were pretty reasonable lines to try to deal with this.
ie. It wasn`t humorous, it was a one off question which would have been ended by the one answer.

Could it be because there is only one possible answer to the post and so therefore It doesn't really qualify as a thread? It could be answered with a PM, which I did earlier.

Well actually, I thought you got very reasonable reponses.
You just kept on going on about it. I even explained why one D.I.Y thread was different to another.
Every moderator decison doesn't go up for public discussion before the action is taken.
We use our discretion. In this case Jags used hers. I worked out why it had been done without her telling me. I even it explained to you.
Your opinion on the right or wrong of it will not change the decision.
