This is one of my posting boots....

Just the one, because I don't wade in with both feet so often. Maybe I should, maybe I shouldn't... who knows? dunno smile
Finding, loosing and changing posting habits is something that happens on a forum and I'm interested in what people think and feel about this.
Is it something that is a natural cyclical process?
Does it come and go with you depending on life issues going on at the time away from the site or depending on the topics presented in the forums?
Do you find that things you want to say have already been said by someone else and so don't ever find your own posting boots? Just kind of drift through agreeing, disagreeing or wishing you had something to say?
What makes you post something? Or not? Other things that make you loose your posting boots. What brings you back? Hooks you back in again?
Those kinds of questiony things... how is it for you?

<<<<<<<< says hardly anything, :smug:
lol And I'm never, ever, ever late! ;)
I figured I best go first... so...
Me... well... I go through phases. How much time I spend on the internet depends on how much spare time I have, what is going on in life at the time and how I feel. So if there is a tragedy I'm likely to hide under a rock and not even think about the internet. But if I'm having a hard day and just want to forget about it, I'm more likely to log in and bounce about like a loon, posting left right and centre!
This would depend on having threads where I can bounce in and out of though. If there are none like this on the boards, then I won't start a new topic specifically for me to bounce into and around. Not entirely sure why, although I think it's because I don't want to be seen as annoying! Although if I was seen as annoying and I knew it, I don't think it'd bother me? dunno
Things that hook me back in are certain threads that catch my eye and make me want to join in on them, maybe a bit of banter, a bit of discussion or debate, something with a bit of humour, socials and the threads that go with them... that air of excitement. And actually at the bottom of it, the potential to actually meet someone if we wanted to.
Although the humour and things to hijack always appeal. smile

Prime consideration in deciding to post is to be sure you don't look a fool.
Plim wink
I go with how I feel and what time allows me....
Thanks Varca. I sometimes think I'll post about something, but then I get tied up in something else and before I know it... I've forgotten! lol Then I think... well, can't have been that great an idea anyway! Maybe I should have joined in on the memory thread! Someone did tell me lately that having a memory like a goldfish isn't a true statement of being forgetful because they do have a longer memory than previously thought. Just a random thing and I've digressed yet again! redface
Interesting when you say about thinking it's just not worth the effort Whips. I have regularly started typing something out, then reviewed the thread and stopped mid post. Many, many have gone by the wayside of late with the comment... ach, I can't be bothered. I was wondering if when you can't be bothered to post, do you still read things though? Or is it a total attack of the fuckits? If you know what I mean?
Then there is the thing of looking stupid. I never really truely know what's going to make me look stupid until people reply and then I think... 'Oh, you looked really stupid/thoughtless/idiotic/foolish/immature/narky/a complete & utter arse(((enter any other twitty description here))) then when you posted that, why didn't you think about it a bit more before that one came out of your keyboard!?'

Do they make these with heels for a certain someone? innocent

I know I could still get totally carried away with certain threads, would love to, but just don't get the time to be able to stick with em these days sad so tend to only contribute to threads that I feel I won't be like a dog with a bone and can't leave alone!
Hopefully I'll eventually get more time to play on here soon!

Please play with me Missy xxxxxx
I just dont feel the urge / want / need to post in threads anymore. There seems to be less and less that I dont see as antagonistic or point scoring but maybe thats just because it's all moved on beyond me.
I wish I did want to join in though but not sure "things are ever the same as they used to be"
:-(
PS
Despite that, never underestimate the friendships you can make in this scene which is more than just a website.
Missy, I look forward to you having more time to play with me too, erm, I mean post more! redface ;) lol

To a certain extent I think this place feels more like 'just a website' the more lasting friendships you do make.
From my point of view, I think it's because those friends can cross over into your everyday life as real friendships, rather than swinging acquaintances. So if the website didn't exist, you know that you'd be in touch anyway; either a once in a while 'Hi, I'll be in your city on this day, fancy going for a coffee/out/something to eat/spending time?' or a more regular 'shall we meet up and spend time together?' thing.
If that makes sense? Almost like it moves beyond the website and so the website itself becomes less of the central thing and more of something on the edges, at the fringes or in the background.
I don't particularly like all that 'taking sides' or 'point scoring' thing that goes on in the forums sometimes. It is possible to get along perfectly well with people on a website and find them interesting without having to be bedfellows or betray anyone by responding. In that respect I would say it is just a website.... although the other side to that would be the questioning of the intent behind a response? dunno
Sassy-seren... will these little beauties do?
