The BBCare saying that Gerald Ford, who died today, was the only unelected President of the USA as he took over from Nixon.
That can't be true... wasn't Lyndon B Johnson in a similar position as an unelected President when he took Office after the assassination of JFK??
Lyndon B Johnson was elected as Vice President before taking over when Kennedy was assassinated, whereas Ford was not elected as VP but was appointed by Nixon after Spiro T Agnew resigned, thus Ford was never elected by the American people to either position, making him unique in that respect.
As he was technically voted in by the U.S. congress, he was technically voted into office
the Ford administration saw the withdrawal of American forces in Vietnam
the 38th president of the United States and the longest lived
Glad we got that cleared up!
*strangely, some people do care*
He was great in Dynasty, now who remembers that??
