In the paper this mornning (metro) there is a write up about so called "elitist swinging"
Belle Baise, a club in Nottingham is getting a lot of complaints as they seem to be prejudiced against "quote - ugly people" and only caters for "quote - beautiful people and under 35's only"
Has anyone heard or attended or been turned away by this club before?
I know in London there are a few similiar so called "exclusive members only" swinging clubs where you have to fill out application forms, get assessed by a panel of judges before you get to be considered. To me this sounds nothing like swinging but a exclusive clique. Apply to get rejected or apply to get pushed up one notch on the evolutionary beautiful person ladder.
Does this mean that these clubs are missing the point of what swinging is about?
Mind you I can understand the concept behind this. What im trying to ask is does physical appeareance and age mean so much - I think it does.

I wouldn't feel disappointed to be turned down as the desire to be seen as accepted on the merits of my appearance or bank balance have a low priority to me so I wouldn't apply in the first place!
I'm not saying this is a contemptable practise or that I rise above such things because I am a better person, it's human nature to compare oneself to others in terms of success and popularity, it's just that my own yard stick isn't so easily swayed by keeping up with the jones!
cool
How would anyone feel if they were TURNED DOWN for membership, even though they believed they were the right type of candidate...?

Hey! I thrive on rejection !!!!
Just ask Sassy lol
Typically British really, isn't it. There seems to be no activity in Britain which is immune from snobbery!
There is prob a sign hangs above the bar that says the working class can kiss my arse and they all say tally ho as they down their drinks.

What's 'beautiful' in one person's eye could be ugly and unsuitable to another so what would they use as a comparison? dunno
Are they going to turn away a stunning 40 year old woman because she's not young enough?
Being a member of the 'more mature' age group, I'd find a club like this rather offensive not only as a swinger but as a 40-something woman.
well I'm too old too, and probably too overweight and ugly, but whatever.... I'm not missing anything, having the time of my life right now! :swingingchair:

Belle Baise is a vey exclusive (and expensive) club to be in. Targetted at the young(er) professional couples it is intended that it's members are not only of a like mind, but also of a similar "set".
As one London hotel chain put it, "we charge the prices we charge because we have certain standards we like to maintain..."
This does tend to make Beautiful Kiss very elitist. Interesting point however, but even more interesting...

I think it was Groucho Marx who said something about not wanting to be a member of a club that would have someone like him as a member biggrin :D

I have always loved Groucho Marx and I used to have that quote in my signature! That and "I never forget a face, but in your case I willing to make an exception!". lol
I always thought Groucho was a bit of a man thing biggrin

Well that may be true. lol When I was a child I was fixated with several Marx Brothers films and would just sit crossed legged in front of the telly and watch them over and over again.
Yes I was a strange child! :P
I once A Day at the Races on Tv and they put the reels on the wrong way round and the 2nd half was shown beforew the 1st half. Um I didn't notice until about 10 minutes from the end.
Im toooooooo gorgeous to go there anyway!
