I have had similar problems with mail. Unable to enter sytles fonts etc. As i had changed no settings i thought nothing of it.
I closed the browser reloaded the page and everything was fine.
Not sure if this helps

Judy,
have you installed anything on your computer just before this happened? If so try System Restore.
The other option is to delete all your Internet temporary files. In IE click on Tools>Internet Options>Delete Files...
Something is running a round in the back of my mind about certain ISPs updating their mail systems. I know that AOL have done so. I belive that and ! were going to update theirs as well.
Really need to get rid of the alcohol haze and start thinking again lol
Judy,
Did the email work after you Installed Norton? If so, its not that. I would delete the Temporary Internet files first and give that a go.
Judy,
Come to think of it, Norton System Works could conceivably make this happen. If you installed the Norton Firewall it may be blocking the ActiveX or Java that could be using for it's email system.
If you are using Norton Firewall, check the settings for use with !
I shall log into my ! account and see what they use...
Belay that. ! only use Javascript which should work with all browsers provided you haven't turned scripting.
Ginger Jo it was such a shame that they closed your site down. Surly they should have conatcted you before they did it.
ANyway it was in the adult section, i think that the news of the world must be working with . grrrr.
Its good to hear that you didnt lose your pics.
Mike
Judy it most probably will be the Norton System Works....I had the same problem but with ...
whoops I forgot to tell you how I got around it....
Do you have a problem viewing pics on any sites ie a red cross in the place of a pic...
if so do what I did and uninstall Ststem works take it back to shop and get Norton Internet security instead.. smile :)
have a quite good help system.
Try clicking on help in the mail screen, if none of the tips concern you problem, try using the online help.
Judy,
You should use the Norton Firewall and switch off the XP2 Firewall.
Right lets see if we can find what's causing the problem. Process of elimination I'm afraid...
Read this section fully first before doing the various steps:Go OnlineSwitch off (disable) Norton Firewall/Internet SecurityLog onto your ! email and see if your icons are availableRegardless of whether they are available or not, as soon as you have tested for them, immediately switch back on your Norton Firewall/Internet Security - This is important, you don't want to have your Firewall switched off for more than a minute (if that) if you can help it.Let me know whether you could use the icons or not
Right, we know its probably not the Firewall thats blocking it.
I must admit I'm a little puzzled...
I've had a quick look through Google and can't see anyone with the same problem.
You could try, but it is a last resort type thing, resetting the Defaults.
In IE:Click on ToolsClick on Internet Options...Click on the Advanced tabClick on Restore Defaults Click on Apply and OKRestart your Computer.
Just a thought, have you tried emailing ! and see if they know why?
 Jude, is that your arse in your Avatar? I never thought you were that kind of girl!redface
Shocked rigid I am!

Judy - the main problem with this sort of stuff is the browser settings. If you use Internet explorer make sure the cookie setting is not too high, Med is ok for most surfing. If you do go for a high setting add those places you trust on internet Options > Trusted sites, add the URL.
Service pack 2 firewall will not set itself to default Unless you set it so - with ZoneAlarm it is over ridden, and Norton is shite. AVG7 free, and ZoneAlarm free are perfectly fine for the standard web surfer.
UnH solutions Privacy keeper works well with XP - and again it is free. Google the name and it will take you to the download site. Let it kill the cookies and cashe when the last browser window is closed - out of date cookies and fecked cookies cause so many problems it is worth having. SpyBot (free) and Adware (free) are well worth having on your computer too. Scan when you need to - and fix the problems you come up with, if any. smile
Looking back on your thread which System Works are you using???
Is it 2003???
And im sorry to say this PKbell but you dont get anything good for free...
All the free software have a loophole ie if you wanna protect your PC properly spend money!!!!
This isnt a Spyware problem (of which Adaware (the paid for version)is very good)
So if I was you Judy e-mail Symentec for them to send you a link to a patch that will sort the problem as youve spent alot of money on their product.
I had problems with Norton System Works and went to Norton System Security(this isnt an ad for the buggers) but now it is fine.
But the XP SP2 firewall is fine......about time microsoft got sommat right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Something is blocking activeX from running
1) Norton is blocking activex.
2) SP2 added restrictions on which activex controls could run. On the compose page do you see this message below the address bar? "Your security settings do not allow ActiveX controls to run on this page. This page may not display correctly. Click here for more options...".
A bit like this........
3)ActiveX is blocked in IE security settings. In IE click on "tools" then "internet options" select the "security" tab and click the "custom level" button. Scroll down to "ActiveX controls and plugins" and set "Download signed activeX controls","Run activeX controls and plugins" and "Script activeX controls marked safe for scripting" to "enable" and leave the other two as disabled.
or 4) You are using a browser other than IE or non-IE based, in which it won't work anyway.
I PMSL at finding you here sussexguy. Because when I read this thread yesterday I thought instantly of you. Was going to suggest Judy got in touch as I just knew you would be able to sort it.
I wonder if its fixed yet? If not Judy you could do much worse that contact sussexguy.
