We all know prostitution has a seedy side where women get taken advantage of, and is often in the hands of organized drug gangs who fund al Qaeda(*said sarcastic!*)
But what about the basic idea of swapping money for sex?lets just say , no one gets hurt and everyone is happy.
So what does the very open minded and liberated swinging community have against the basic idea of prostitution? Or would it help if I bring into focus an example of a high class escort?say Hannah Baxter that one Billie piper played so well on tv?
I think that prohibiting things makes them likely to become the domain of career criminals.
I have no problem with the concept or practice of prostitution provided the workers are protected.
So make it strictly legal and above board and regulate it.

Its beginning to look like we have a new "Brucie' in our midst..................
Prostitution was decriminalised in New Zealand in 2003 ... and we have not gone to hell in a hand basket. There are still problems and some local politicians in particular do not want to accept it, but the general consensus is that it has made things safer for working girls and it has not lead to an increase in prostitution.

Indeed confused
well let's just apply some of the ideas about prostitution to swinging.
Would you want swinging to be subject to a set of legislation and procedures which you know don't already exist and might become difficult to implement.
Would you like someone from the 'ministry' attending the Wigan Munch, testing, examining advising etc whilst you were going about your activities.
well just imagine it for a moment. Its not easy to think you could happily proceed with something like that. But it seems to be the thing people offer as an answer to the question of prostitution.
So the public seems to have the expectation that their sex workers be clean, legal and regulated etc. but what regulates them that expect that?
Also most of the ways of using sex workers are already legal.
The point is, you can't be too intrusive in this. because you are getting in between a private and personal thing between people. and that then interferes with the act of sex as much as prostitution.

You need to do some research... wink
The UK government should take a leaf out the Germans' book and legalise prostitution.
The Girls are taxed, insured and are made to have regular health screening and are educated in safe sex techniques.
Whilst I don't agree with prostitution, at least doing it this way reduces pimping, criminal involvement and exploitation of the women who choose to make a living from providing sex.
I am also led to believe that there is anecdotal evidence that sex crimes are reduced in countries with legalised prostitution and those girls that do engage, are more likely to report an offence of abuse against them to the authorities.
Is it possible that society could be better off if prostitution were legalised?
(Sorry if my post appears to be disjointed, but I've got a MASSIVE hangover.)

Nah, do the research I say... it's much more fun ;)
I guess that depends on your idea of fun.
The older I get the less I like the idea of state controlled and/or legalised prostitution. I am interested though in the Swedish system of criminalising the buying of sex services rather than criminalising the sex worker although there is merit in making it that the coworker is committing a civil offence

There might be a downside to legalising prostitution.....just imagine the local job centre on the phone wishing to speak to your partner or your offspring..."we might have found something suitable for you...when can you attend the interview?"
hmmm.
Although I have never partaken in the services offered, I have seen quite a few red light districts throughout europe.
When I work away with my friend we always like to go and do some window shopping and compare the RLD's and working girls of various towns and cities. Gent in belgium is our current champion for quality and cologne wins for quantity and professionalism, being the location of Pascha, europes biggest brothel, spread over 7 floors (be warned the top floor is quite scary - only if you like your women without a penis! :shocksmile
The only objections I can see are moral and the prevention of exploitation of the people involved. These both seem to have been taken care of in some euro cities, with strict controls and inspection of licenced premises and confidential reporting systems in place to protect the workers.
It seems to me a much better system if it has removed the kind of skanky, smack addicted pox ridden pros I see walking the streets of my city, even more so when you see them pushing their child in a pram the next day.
Unfortunately that is the visible evidence in the UK, in some cases. But at the same time represents a sense of freedom in that, dreadful though such women are, they feel entitled to street walk. or they are being pimped out by a crook.
Whereas something is keeping the women off the streets in the Federalist Euro states. which we may see as being legit and all above board and effectively government controlled etc. But might simply mean that criminals have been given the legitimacy to run their business.
So either situation may cause some unease if you consider them for what they are. All that has to be done is change a few laws and the crook is a businessman. he still continues to use his way of working.
The idea of forcing people to sell themselves when they don't wan't to is abhorrent to me. This, as we know, does go on and those responsible for this practice should be severly dealt with.
However, I am sure that some girls actually enjoy it, and can still maintain a family life. Like in many proffesions, there is a wide spectrum.
And before I am ripped to pieces, there are a number of support groups throughout the country for working girls and I know some of the people working in those support groups. The "high end" girls, well paid happy who love their jobs, don't tend to use them. It also takes a certain state of mind to be able to cope with the work, and many people drift in and out of it as their lives change.
I do feel sorry for the girls who try to move out of it and find it difficult, becuase of prejudice, to move on to other things whether they were low end or high end. I believe that there was one girl on X Factor? (don't watch the show but have seen the headlines). For goodness sake society, don't be so quick to judge!!!

Offering sex for money is an important addition to society, it is always going to happen, so legalizing it can help "clean it up", it can take some of the drug abuse out of the equation, stop underage girls working, get more girls paying taxes, save court, police and prison officers time, clean up residential areas and so on. legalise it, control it and HAMMER any client that uses the services of a woman that is not registered and not working in a licensed area as a deterent to make them use the proper facilities.
Having "brothels" in out of town locations, Health checks and certificates for the women
Sadly yes many women are co-erced or even forced into it, some see it as "the only way out" some to fund thier drug habits which cost more than Asda checkout can afford to pay.
Then there is the difference between the escort and the prostitute, some will say there is no difference money for sex is prostitution and that is correct, but personally I do see a difference between how the prostitute works in comparison with the escort.
Most prositutes work on the streets, they are are dressed for the streets and wil remain working for many hours seeing many clients without showering or changing thier clothing and underwear at any time during thier shift, on the other hand most escorts work from home, visit hotels or your home, almost all of them will be dressed to impress in fresh clean clothes and underwear, often dressed as you have requested.
These days escorts are generally contacted via websites which gives the client the chance to see photographs and the range of services on offer, they can mail them and ask specifics and on most sites you can leave a report of how your visit went and if it was a good or bad experience.
Then of course there are those that work at massage parlours which tends to lean more towards the advantages of seeing an escort.
There will always be that fine line between escorts and prostitutes and yes all are there for the money but if your going to spend money then it is good to have a choice in what sort of service you are going to get, some clients prefer prostitutes because a dirty, sleezy experience is exactly what they are looking for, whilst many clients use escorts because they like to have a dinner date, a set period of time, a choice of what the woman will wear and so on.
What I strongly, personally believe is that escorts and prostitutes have no place in swinging, clubs paying girls to have sex with customers, single guys paying girls to accompany them to parties or clubs, girls seeking clients on sites or in clubs, swinging is about consensual sex between adults because it is what they want to do in thier leisure time, either as a single person or as a couple with each partners consent and approval it is not about financial gain.
That is what this liberated, free thinking, open minded Swinger thinks
