Ok This is a general moan about the lack of punctuation, spelling and grammar in emails.
It seems to be symptomatic of the txt generation to shorten, abbreviate or substitute letters or words with numbers or to write a whole mail without capital letters, full stops paragraphs or even a cursory brush with a spellchecker.
Maybe I’m just old but if I’m sending an email to someone I intend to impress, which after all is what you want to do when contacting people on this site, I want it to convey at least a modicum of intelligence.
M.b. (Who is waiting for this post to be ripped apart!)
I agree with you whole heartedly mancbloke. I only shorten texts using abbreviations etc in order to fit in as much as I can into the space given, saves on having to use extra credit to send 2 texts worth of normal english.
As for e-mails, most guys seem to use the approach of e-mailing as many people as possible, using as little tact, eloquence and interest as possible, having been brought up or given the impression by society and pornographers that a simple "Fancy a shag?" will guarantee them untold success.
Still, since most women aren't impressed with that, it helps those who can type, speak and communicate in an articulate way in getting somewhere on this site and others.
Thats me if i could spell it hehe ... But he has a fair point some guys dont put any thought into Emails at all .
Is punctuation important !
Yes ?
If people can't be bothered to punctuate their forum posts or if they pepper their posts with textspeak, I can't be bothered to read them - I just scroll straight past. And I can tell the difference between dyslexia and laziness.
Mike.
whats puncuation then i never had the need to use it what for just a waste of time thinking about it when you can just type or write what you are saying i can still read what i am saying deep breath where was i oh yes puncuation who needs to use punctuation apart from frecklebird well she would she is a teacher and when i was at school i always got pulled up on my puncuation and that really got on my nerves because i talk very fast without taking a breath i feel dizzy must lie down
You got pulled up for your punctuation .... I bet you got much worse than that for your spelling !!!
If you'd been any good at either, I wonder if you'd have been pulled off instead of up.
We all dream of teachers who know how to handle little boys.

Freckledbird - step away from the thread!!    :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:
You've messed up the DNA ( Diction, Nouns and Abbreviations!!!)
Bugga, I'll be all night sorting them out now
I don't use txt much but I recognise it as a language which may become quite powerful throughout the world. More and more people are using it and the technology which fuels it.
Could anyone now give up mobile technology? Probably not. So txt will continue to spread.
Also. There have been many famous novels where the author has used language in a different format to illustrate and enhance a piece of writing.
I never really liked it, but they're considered classics.
My opinion, for what it is worth, is that it is the trying that is important.
Chances are it will be legible, we all make spelling mistakes (well nearly all)
Those that cant be bothered to try to make themselves understood are the ones I usually cant be bothered to try to understand
