Every now and again people come into our lives and their words and/or actions make a huge difference in life .... random acts of kindness meaning so little but meaning so much.
At the weekend Morbius and I were treated by a member of the swinging community to something we'd previously expressed an interest in but the cost prohibited us. This person after finding they couldn't go gave us tickets to see Bon Jovi at Milton Keynes. We had a wonderful day which was helped by fabulous weather.
Then secondly, this morning just as I was setting off to my new job the postman delivered a beautiful bouquet of flowers and chocolates. They are a thank you for some kindness we showed someone else recently. (And they weren't necessary, thanks had already been accepted but thank you).
Then through the day I've had a couple of texts off people wishing me good luck for the job.
These things made me realise just how much this community looks out for it's own, how much the people here mean to me (and us) and so I want to say a public thanks to them, although i'm not going to name them because they may not wish to be named.
Random acts of kindness ......... so simple but so meaningful
Calista xx

IN EDIT
Have i just aided and abbeted a hijak. Sorry.
There is a report that states that people involved in voluntary and charity work live longer. Perhaps it is their open and giving nature that overcomes many of the health problems that can lay others low.
Perhaps happy people are giving people!!!
This is such a nice thread!!!
This morning I stopped for an elderly lady to offer her a lift
both her wrists were heavily bandaged one with a wrist cast, her leg was bandaged & she was walking with a stick.
Being well aware that my presence may be intimidating towards her I kept my distance & asked her if I could help her by giving her a lift to her destination & that I would be glad to assist.
She said no thank you & hardly looked me in the eye... no problem I thought.
But then the memories of another elderly lady who bless her cotton socks tried to help me lift my Honda ST1100 motorbike after it rolled off it's side-stand when parked up on some melting tarmac!!!
Bless random acts of kindness & all those who still have the humanity left in them to act & help another without seeking reward!
