any real ale fans on here and if so what are your favourites?smile
I know its made properly and not full of chemicals or gas and therefore not as bad for me as lager, but I just cant drink the stuff - horrible!
Actually there are quite few folk on the site who like the "Old Speckled Badger" and "Todger Stippler" or what ever the hell it is.
They used to hang out in the GFZ contaminating the atmosphere. lol  I'm thinking they have gone to bed. Though easy may have got to some other place (maybe one that requires some sort of long sleeved jacket)
Sorry I don't really like real ale. Except I do drink our local stuff - Arran Ale. Which come in Blond or Dark - its not too strong (5%) and they are good - with nothing floating in them which is always a good sign.
What I have discovered recently is single varietal cider. Coxs Pippin Cider - I rather liked that.
went to the wakefield beer fest n found a brew called yewbarrow,,had to try it cos (see signiture) and it was awsome ,dont know the brewery tho, cant remember. Hi n welcome btw biggrin
yewbarrow is brewed by great gable brewery in cumbria!!! thanks for the welcome,.did you have any other nice beers?
Along with various other alcohol beverages.... I love real ale. For years I've been very picky about not drinking fizzy beer, & its only comparatively recently I've been prepared to drink stuff like Caffreys, John Smiths etc.
I like a wide range of real ales from around the UK, but often miss milds which sadly are hard to come by in my area. I also love beers from Belgium, Germany etc, including fruit beers which are so different but so good. :P :P
I live just down the road from the Hogs Back brewery and their 'TEA' is excellent.
As is the santa special. (Can't remember the name is was that good) lol
We like a pint of Spaldings Old Peculiar Gnats Piss Special XXX

TEA is brilliant as is 'hop garden gold' and many other hogs back beers brewed incidentally by a female brewer ;)

Keep yer bloody arse still so I can get a decent shot at it woman. mad :x :x
Yeah I used to enjoy a glass of Sneck Lifter or anything from the Badger brewery. Dragon Heart wasn't to bad either and there's also Hobgoblin.
Unfortunately any ale has started to give me a hangover the following morning, even after one pint, so it looks like I'll be going back to Southern Comfort or Baileys this christmas.
Good job we bought a bottle of each then. wink lol biggrin
Mmm - I like real ale too. Dunno about favourites though - had too many (several hundred different ones) this year to tell!
How about some swing / dogging type thing at a beer festival?

yes that's an excellent idea!! would certainly prove that it's not just boring people with beards and wolley jumpers that frequent such places!!;)

i'm lucky to have this little gem right on my doorstep biggrin Must admit to having tried more than a couple but not so recently sad
Love Old Accidental ... but like easy it give me a terrible hangover :(
The brewery is a delightful little pub smile
i used to be fond of a pint of real ale on a night out with the lads when i used to live back in wales but in scotland there are very few pubs that still do this!

Seems I have moved south for the winter! lol
I love real ale. There is a fantastic pub near me which serves real ale exclusively and changes the ales on offer frequently.
John bought me a bottle of monty python's real ale for my birthday. I'm saving it for a special occasion!
