Yesterday as we all know or should do, was the anniversary of 9/11.
There was also a moving programme on last night about the hotel that sat in the middle of the twin showed peoples courage and the miracles that happened on that awful day.
Everytime I see those images it shocks me and saddens me at the innocent people that lost their lives,by people that were not human on that day.
Excluding the 19 hijackers, 2,974 people died in the attacks. Another 24 are missing and presumed dead.
Have a look at this clip and lets never forget the people who died and what can happen when people try to inflict their views and ideals on a civilised society.
i remember where i was when it all happened and what i was watching unfold i just could not believe.
The discovery channel had a programme about a man who started preparing and training staff to evacuate the made everyone do it once every week if i remember correctly.
He was a decorated soldier from vietnam and not a single person had a bad word to say about him.
He perished because he went back in to get others out.
regardless of what views people have about the day and what happened, this man saved many lives and gave up his known.
Thats what i remember about 9/ like him.
Who went beyond his duty, put all his friends before gave it all up so they could live.
His name was Rick Rescorla.
and you can read about him here.

well for a start am not a muslim, but what civilised society goes to another country in the pretence of looking for WMD and illegally slaughter over 1million fellow human beings,i remember the 1st annev' of 9/11 we had to stop work at 2pm in honour of the American victims but as the years go by we've seen america being isolated, who will honour the dead in Iraq and afghan or are they less human than the rest of us...find out who is responsible for 911

Well said, couldn't anything to that
I will always look at this from a different point of view..... because as a lot of people here know, I lost 6 damn fine friends it the attacks on the world trade centre
peanut... i don't know if what you said was suppose to but flippant, or anything else.... but for me it is incredibly bad taste.... if i had as a responce had said something along the lines of "well it is just as well july 7th is 7/7.. we would never get that mixed up" I would be rightly pulled up on it..... confused :?
over-sensative... too damn right!!!!! you lose people in that way and see how you feel.......read thru the threads on the day of the london bombings and see how people felt and see what state people where in not knowing what may have happened to there friend and family...... trust me it is not nice!!!
phuckers..... I don't agree with what happened after the attacks, but i don't feel that the two should be linked....all I know is that 2,999 perfectly innocent people lost there lives in attacks on that day...
I am never here on september 11th because for me it is a day where I think about the people I lost, and spend it with my family because you never know when, the lesson i have learnt from that day is never to take anyone for granted......

Nothing he says suprises me anymore. Probably another American hater which is fine, but those people did not deserve to perish in that awful way.
I did not really expect anyone to answer this thread, as I hoped that people would just watch the clip and spare a thought for those people who died.
This thread was about them but if phuckers you would like to do another thread on the points you raised, then be my guest.

well Fabio am deeply very sorry to hear you lost friends,it was very horrific to watch, but what did innocent Iraqs who over 30years have struggle to survive under dictatorship of saddam,it was justified for afghan to be invaded because it was Taliban and alqueda headquarter, but why should we not link Iraq with 911?they could have not been invaded if all that didnt happen, can we also spare a thought for over 4000 american soldiers who've died on this pointless revenge war against a country which had absolute nothing to do with the twin tower bombing
Fabio i hope this doesnt offend you but more innocent people have died as a result of 911

Yes it was flippant, and yes it was bad taste. Get over it.
No Kent I don't hate Americans, but they do irritate, mostly at their hypocrisy.
I can see the humour in pretty much anything, if you can't then that's your problem not mine.
3000 dead in the biggest terrorist act up to that point, and what do they go and do... kill a shitload more.
What makes their killing any better than the WTC towers?
I abhor both acts, but it won't stop me cracking jokes.

Is there any point at which you stop being a TWAT why do you insist on having the last nasty word? I would say you were thoughless but I think that would be wrong. You come across as articulate and intelligent but very cold and calculating with a mission to slap the cold fish of crappyiness on people.

On another note: Lets keep the insults out of the forum!! I've seen enough of them this evening already!
errrrrmmmmmm...... "interesting" thread.
personally, i think all killing is crap.
and even crapper is making people out to be martyrs...they are all victims in my view.

I am really angry at the moment, and if I said what I really wanted to right now, I'd get banned.... so mods... could you please ban me for 24 hrs so I don't have the temptation to... thank you

Hmmm let me see:
11th September 2001, 3000 innocent people killed in the WTC.
The western world sees it as an atrocity.
Up-to-today up to 87,000 innocent men, women and children killed in Iraq by US and co-operative forces.
The western world see it as an ongoing victory.
Peanut sees it as acute hypocrisy.
Al Qaeda kills innocent people to get what they want, well blow me down, so does America. In my book that makes America the worst as they should know better!
So Kent, the next time you feel obliged to bend over and let the Americans take you in the butt just be warned that they aren't doing it to be friendly, they are just looking for oil up there.
Furthermore, the WTC tragedy was the best thing to happen for Bush and his government. It resulted in most of the world feeling sorry for America, unlimited funds for him to finish what his dad started. And the best bit of all is that Fortress America now got to have new gates. It was turned into a pseudo-military fascist state overnight. I'm just surprised that the Dept. of Homeland Security aren't made to wear leather overcoats with fancy badges on the lapels.
Yes 9/11 was terrible - but so was 7/7 and 15/8 2 of the biggest attacks made in the UK .... all terrorist attacks are terrible, least we not forget the people killed throughout the troubles, the middle east and the rest of the world and not just those in New York that day.
You know Peanut may have said things in bad taste (as you think) but he has a valid point, countless INNOCENT lives have been taken away, yes some in the attack on 9/11 but many thousands more since (and before) then but we dont remember them or martyr them do we ?? ... I bet no one remembers the dates of the Manchester IRA bomb, the Birmingham pub bomb ?? maybe not as many killed but equally as important INNOCENT lives taken from us.
RIP all those killed inncoently through terrorist attacks

Well lets hope so. You have gone out of your way this time to be nasty, and people are starting to see right through you. Dont know why but you sound a very bitter person.
Maybe you should get out a bit more!
I thought this thread would not generate into this kind of thing, but was obviously your intention
All innocent people that get killed through war or terrorism should be remembered!!
Nobody has the right in my honest opinion to inflict such barbaric acts upon humans no matter of what religion or political beliefs they may have if they are innocent of inflicting suffering to others. They have no reason to die!!!!!.

Firstly this thread is not about me, and never should have been about me. It's only you and a couple of others who made it that way, so don't put that one on me.
Please do not pass comment on what you think I am or aren't. You don't know me, you don't know what I'm about.
Now let's get something cleared up. My original comment about the Americans was about the reversing of the dates, not about what the date itself was. The fact that you and other read into what you did is your problem not mine.
As regards the subject matter, no I don't think there should be a transatlantic memorial for September 11th. Dead is dead and the people who died in the WTC were no more important than the 7000 civilians who died in the "Shock and Awe" attack on Baghdad. Neither are they more important than any other person who has died in a terrorist attack.
The difference it seems, between you and I, isn't that I'm a "nasty" person. It's because I have perspective and don't get swallowed up into the American sense of importance and PR.
My sympathies are with every victim of terrorism (I also consider the war on Iraq as terrorism). I don't differentiate and I don't memorialise people purely because it's expected of me. I also choose not to say "the right thing" because that's what is expected of me because everybody else does it.

o come to terms with that atrocities being carried out on a daily basis by American troops all over the world and please please remember that the United States of America were built on the systematic murder of the indigenous population.

Very good point there flower411. I do feel sorry for the people who've lost someone, however it's very hard and dangerous to see through the "emotional-pain-glass".
At the end of the day, if you talk to any of the "terrorists", I'm sure that most of them will also have a heartbreaking story about lost ones as a result of american-sponsored wars. So, let's not mix politics (or even religion) with personal emotions, that would be plainly dangerous.
Quote by fabio
phuckers..... I don't agree with what happened after the attacks, but i don't feel that the two should be linked....

How invalid that statement is! It's like asking us not to link the Wall of Berlin to WWII. The history has been written and it should be examined as a whole. If we start compartmentalising history, then it's extremely easy to justify all sorts of barbaric acts.
Overall, emotions are not quantifiable where as finances are. And it's extremely easy to work out who's swiming in cash today as a result of WTC.
