Listening to the radio today, they reported on Richard Whitelys remembrance service, and how it wasnt conventional, for example, people wearing bright colours, people wearing t-shirts with his face on them etc
They then went on to discuss, and have a phone-in, about planning alternative funerals, as such, it gave me food for thought.
To begin with, id like a prayer, as a nod of respect to the man upstairs, then id like everyone everyone to sing 'if you're happy and you know it clap your hands', as im sure that would be quite a scene in the church.
Id also like 'Going Underground' by the Jam, Another one bites the dust' by Queen, 'Return to sender' by Elvis and as my coffin is lowered, 'My way' by Frank Sinatra.
I dont want anyone to bring flowers, id like everyone to wear England football shirts, and if not English, the shirt of their nation
Why should it be mouning a passing, why not celebrate a life?
Am i wrong in wanting this?

You don't listen to Talk Sport by any chance?? confused :? :?
I'd have to go for a Trek funeral, I think. Have everyone come dressed in Starfleet dress uniform, have a UFP flag hanging in the crematorium, a coffin shaped like a photon torpedo and have the original Trek theme music as my coffin goes into the furnace.
At the wake, my favourite episodes will be shown and anyone who sits and watches them be included in my will. This will drive my brother nuts as he can't stand Star Trek, or any sci-fi for that matter.
In most cases you can ask for what you want at your funeral via your will. I say most cases, as long as it doesn't cause offence and the presiding official is happy for it. When my father died we had his favourite tunes played and they were most definitely not sombre! lol
At the end of the day, it's how you want to be remembered.

Look this one up as it's a good read that puts death into perspective .It's about a scottish guy who takes over the small family funeral business, and injects new life(redface sorry about that one) into it with his own radical ideas for alternative funerals. pmsl

attended a humanist funeral recently where they buried them feet first in a cardboard coffin, then planted a tree on top... a first for me.
As an atheist, I wouldn't have a religious service, and as a biker I would want all my friends to turn up on their bikes, in their leathers, to give me a rousing send off.
My music chioce would be
Bed Of Roses............Jon bon Jovi
My Sacrifice...............Creed
And the O Fortuna chorus from the opera Carmina Burana....................better known as the old Old Spice music.
I just organised and attended my brothers funeral on Thursday and it certainly wasn't a sombre time. One man had us all rolling in the aisles laughing over some of my brothers antics he remembered and I loved seeing so many people come who cared for him .. it was a great comfort.

For me, you can just chuck me in a hole and leave me.
However, I would like to think that anyone mourning my passing will do it in a happy way.
