Didn't like her style, didn't like her music, and not sure she was all that talented (though admittedly, not liking her music makes me biased). I won't mourn her death.
However, her family and her friends will, and for that reason I am not going to join the thousands all across the net today who are slagging her off for being an addict.
Yes, she may have had choices to get herself clean. It may be the waste of a (debatably) talented life. Another rich kid gone wrong. But still, I feel sympathy for her and for her family. So, for that reason, I am out.

From what I've heard and seen there is no great loss to the world of music or fashion. But that is irrelevant.
To lose a family member or friend is always a sad thing. For that loss to be a direct result of that person's choices seems almost worse (is any death is worse than any other when it comes down to it?). But the fact is, she grew up in a world of knowledge and education - she knew that her early choices put her on a path to self-destruction, she knew that later choices kept her there. She knew - however buried that knowledge was - that her actions were hurting her family.
Yes, she was an addict - but it was because she chose to embark on actions that lead to addiction. She could not claim ignorance and to blame others (if she did) for 'influencing' her to do it - codswallop.
I can't summon any sympathy for her - she made her choices. I have far more for her family who must have watched her self-destruction with despairing, helpless horror. To see a child suffer, and to have all your efforts to help them end in failure is nothing short of dreadful.

I don't think anyone is in a position to judge Amy and her addictions.
My thoughts are with her family and friends. I hope she's found the peace she was searching for
