My sentiments as well. Not a real fan of the man however I do have quite a few of his stuff in my collection and thriller and off the wall are played regularly. He was extreamly talented and no one can take that away from him.
However, I really do wish that people would remember that this is someone's father, son and brother. If nothing else, I really do think that people should show respect if only for the sake of his family (and I would say this about ANYONE who had passed away).
To make sick, nasty jokes about child abuse is just unbelievable, and as far as I remember, wasn't he found NOY guilty rolleyes

you can't blame a bad childhood for everything that you become. we all have choices. lets not forget he was not the only child brought up by his father, and while all of them may have some quirks, none of them are like mj. the man was not naive at all. he liked children enough to go too far. you can be naive the first time you are accused and if it's not true then you learn. you don't put yourself in a position where people can/will take advantage of you like that.
as for his children left behind. it may sound cruel but have you thought that just maybe they stand a better chance without his influence on their lives? if anyone else had dangled their child off a balcony they would have had child services there in a flash.
it is sad, just as it is for anyone who dies. he did sing some good songs and he had some talent. but there were alot of other talented people around him too who's input helped him to be who he was.
i'm sure his family are just as grief stricken as any family would be. i'm also sure they will rally round and take good care of his children. i feel for them having lost their father but i do feel they may be better in the end without him.

It's true that you can't blame all on your childhood, but for MJ it was his entire life. He never had one.
The rest of his family did not have the same adulation... MJ was put forwards as the 'face' of the Jacksons / Jackson 5.
The world that MJ lived in is something we cannot really comprehend. To some degree Princess Di had it too, but she was adult by the time she entered into that world and it's not as possible to make money from Di as from MJ.
I think any fair minded person would accept that he did some odd things and must take responsibility for that, but when your entire world is so twisted and distorted, who of us can really say we wouldn't make similar mistakes?
As for the more sinister allegations against him.... I will say this...
I have slept on the floor with a bunch of kids and laughed and played with them... 'been a kid' with them. Camped out etc.
I've also rushed to pick up a kid in a playground who'd fallen and hurt themselves.
How every easily those things can be twisted by those wishing to portrait a certain image. I think as horrific those allegations were, equally how horrific it must be to be accused of them.
He was a very messed up man, but this world takes the largest portion of blame for that, his only crime was not finding a way through the maze, whilst we all bought the papers and laughed.
