Just heard on the news that Richard Burns has passed away after a long illness..
To lose one great driver in one year is sad but to lose two is just un-believable..
Richard was a nice guy and a genuine competetor..
he will be missed..
A tragic loss, what more could be said of a man at the top of his field and robbed of the chance to exploit it to the full.
RIP- Richard Burns
Our thought's to Zoe (partner) and family.

The guy was awesome....RIP
Drove past the Prodrive factory in Banbury earlier (10 miles from home) on the way to Brum.
Flag at half mast. Nice touch.
Had the pleasure of meeting him, he was a genuine guy who loved what he did, and showed it in the way he drove, he had an awesome talent and I for one, will miss watching him drive
I raced him in a works Karting event. Well I tried to race him  A tragic loss
Richard was a close personal friend of mine and I last saw him in April. Even then he was cheerfull and determined despite his illness.
In my youth we came up through the same championships and despite him being seven years my junior he was a hell of a good driver and became an increasingly good mate.
In 2001 he invited me and a couple of the old boys out to his place in Andorra and we had an absolute hoot.
I knew he was close to the end on Tuesday when a mutual friend phoned me
On friday night I cried for the first time in a long while
Rest in Peace Richard you were a gentleman and a star
First met Burnsie back in the Peugeot 205 Challenge days - he was one of a very talented bunch who Des O'Dell nurtured on to great things - Burns, McCrae, Milner, Rowe.
Richard was probably one of the first truly dedicated professional drivers around, with tremendous talent - he fought his illness with the same determination with which he drove. I last saw him to speak to at last years final Peugeot Sport dinner. R.I.P. Burnsie
What a year its been, Mike Paines, Beefy and now Burnsie .......I'm sure Mr O'Dell will be putting together a dream team up there somewhere ......
gutted.
what a driver.
My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
My Son and i are very upset at the sad loss of Richard
We are both mad on rally and we loved to cheer him on
I know he wasnt as flash as Colin but thats why we loved him
He was a true sportsman

Yes Markku must be feeling it too,He's had a tough year, he was getting a lift to Cardiff with Burnsie just about 2 years ago when he collapsed at the wheel.
Markku got them safely onto the hard shoulder from the passenger seat before getting medical help.
