Pryor died shortly before 8 a.m. of a heart attack after being taken to a hospital from his home in the San Fernando Valley, said his business manager, Karen Finch. He had been ill for years with multiple sclerosis, a degenerative disease of the nervous system.

No!!! That's awful. I knew that he had not been well for some years - though I don't think that I knew the details.
He was a very funny guy. I remember films like Brewster's Millions, Hear No Evil, See No Evil (with Gene Wilder) and one of the Superman movies.
What a shame. Well, RIP. At least he made millions of people laugh - which is not a bad thing to leave behind, now is it?

I Read a quote in which he said he had been abused, beaten, become a drunk and a drug addict and had screwed anything that stood still for more than 30 seconds! and had survived it all, only to be diagnosed as suffering with MS, he said God had a sense of humour too!
RIP to a funny funny man!
Luke
FFS!! Yet another comic genius leaves us.
Made some great films with Gene Wilder, Stir Crazy and See no Evil Hear no Evil, two of the best.

Funny guy, real funny guy - heaven's a richer place today.

Can't imagine he'd end up in heaven...or, knowing what I did about the guy, particularly want to be there either wink
Sad day though, he was one funny guy, the best always seem to go young (and bloody Thatcher is still hanging on  mad )
Such a fine and funny man.
you will be missed.
i heard somewhere today that he wrote the part of the sheriff in Blazing Saddles, then disappeared on a drugs binge when he was supposed to be filming.
Brilliant
