Hello all,
Worlass and I will have been together a number of years and will have been civil for a year in November... don't ask me the exact date as I can't remember off the top of my head. Anyway I have had a super weekend and realised again and again all the reasons why I love her and why I wanted to be civil to her forever.
Right... I am incredibly and perhaps surprisingly romantic and without going into detail I have already exhausted the run of the mill romance and stuff. I want to do something creative and unusual for our anniversary. I couldn't care less about the cost but I do want to do something memorable as every moment with her is a blessing and I want to thank her for sharing her life with me.
Soooooo Please help. what can I do/give/include to make it that extra memorable.
any ideas gratefully received and I reserve the right to change it and make it my own..
thanks in advance
splendid.
Record a song for her. You've got the vocals for it. Put it on a cd, put a message on the cd sleeve.
sell the bike

yes, lovely, you could sell the bike to finance it.

Traditionally your first anniversary is paper. So how about something gorgeous made from paper. Or you could be creative and make something origami style (just don't talk to me about origami at the moment :lol2smile

Yes yes a genius!
What you do is get a brown paper bag some lighter fluid and a box of matchs. Head out early in the morning, give yourself time cus you need to find a really big dog poo! Now once you have found one pick it up with the brown paper bag and proceed home. Put it on your door step give it a good covering of lighter fluid and light it with a match. Ring the door bell, run and hide. If your in a kind mood you left her shoes/slippers by the front door lol
Trust me, this makes conversation when you are both 70
lp and tweeky... what can I say..... are you both single perchance ?
the other ideas... thanks.. keep them coming.
Kaz.... I know that the expense isn't the be all and end all. You are talking to the woman who wrote I love you in 'post its' on her desk and sent a picture message of it to worlass at work. wink

as paper is for your first 'marriage' year together, why not write her a poem, or choose a favorite that says the way you feel and have it written on handmade parchment.

yeah I did that with our civil album. We created our own vows that were extremely personal and I had them written by someone who does calligraphy on handmade paper and put in the album without her knowing.

fly her to somewhere nice with champers (larger, oj or anything suitable inbetween) for a show/gig, nice meal and then a hotel for the night/weekend and a pampering session at a spa?

yeah we have done that a few times.... I surprised her with Goo Goo Dolls, Nickelback and Elton John and she returned the favour with Take That (shush Lp) and someone else that I have forgotten.

really and honestly i don't know what to suggest as i can't remember the last time anyone did anything romantic for me just because they wanted to.
whips

Perhaps we could invite you around and you could pop out of the cupboard/cake/my pants and surprise her ? ?
Aahhhh!
*sigh* Romance...
Ok, what kind of things do you like and not like, possibly. Hmmmm. confused Are you going with the paper theme? Cos you could design a monogram and have it watermarked into stationary paper or a piece of one off jewellery if not going with the paper thing. Pin brooch or hair pin if princess worlass doesn't do jewellery.
How about commissioning unique matching biking leathers? Or something sewn into the lining, like your vows in miniature, a shared poem or something like that?

Only in Mrs Tweekys dreams rotflmao
I dunno 12 years and I still cant shift the bitch.
Contrary to what many men believe, you do not have to spend large sums of money to woo a woman – it really is the thought that counts,if you want to go the traditional paper route, go with the hand made paper, I like little gems idea of the personalised water mark, nice touch, write a poem about her, mention the thing's about what make's worlass speical to you and no one else, the important thing's the little thing's, and the funny thing's, get your friend with the calligraphy skill's, to pen it for you, and frame it, either hang it in your bedroom or stand it on a bed side cabinet, and get a smaller copy made so when your apart if she ever goes way with work or to visit freinds, it can be poped in to a bag and taken with her, so it's the last thing she will see before she goes to sleep and the first thing she will see when she awake's.
But what ever you do, Im sure it will be some thing you have enjoyed doing for her, and some thing she will appreciate for ever.
Now if this is ever copied and pasted any where, you all know that Im going to say some one hacked into my account, it wouldn't do that some one as nasty and as mean as myself should have thought's such as these lol
I've no great suggestions, although, in line with others, I think the paper theme is a good idea because of the notion of progressing from paper to the big stellar anniversaries. Origami sprang to mind, but then I though of papier mache, and the lovely papier mache trinkets you used to get - I saw a lovely art deco papier mache jewellery box on Tynemouth Market a couple of years ago - the muppet selling it didn't have a clue what he had, and was selling it as a stash box! (There's a similar, but more ornate box selling in a Jesmond antique dealers for a three figure sum). I have a plain papier mache box which has an inset for a picture on the lid.....
However, the main reason for posting was to thank you for making me think of poetry so that I'll go to work thinking of these lines from John Donne's Epithalamion - that rarest of things, a priest who wrote beautifully about sex...
A bride, before a “ Good-night” could be said,
Should vanish from her clothes into her bed,
As souls from bodies steal, and are not spied.
But now she's laid ; what though she be ?
Yet there are more delays, for where is he ?
He comes and passeth through sphere after sphere ;
First her sheets, then her arms, then anywhere.
Let not this day, then, but this night be thine ;
Thy day was but the eve to this, O Valentine.
my sister, for her first wedding anniversary received a green £1note in a frame as they were in the last week or so of being phased out for £ coins. She still has it 26 years on.
I'm really no good at this sort of thing, but best wishes to you both.
Plim

I remember those booths!
The problem with websites that record your voice is, as you've said northeastcoupleuk, you have to have pretty good recording equipment for it to sound really good.
I have studio quality sound playing and recording equipment, but even with all the correct software, it's very difficult to get a studio quality result.
If it were me, I'd pay for a few hours in a recording studio, with the services of an engineer. You see these advertised as "Record your own cd Gift Days" - but you can get exactly the same thing cheaper and more low-key in local recording studios.

That's nice - I once had a ten shilling note tucked away in a plastic folder, but it went "walkabout"!

I did this with my daughter a couple of years ago as a birthday present to myself :lol2: We had 4 hours in a studio with a Technician and got 4 songs recorded and it cost me £100. I have one of the songs as my ringtone and it still sends shivers down my spine everytime I hear it biggrin
Go for it Splendid, I agree with Cherry you do have the voice for it kiss

I won't be doing anything more than one track on the CD. That would just be spoiling her.
Personally I liked my idea dunno
A CD with my loved one singing on it! I think I really would rather open the front door and stamp on a burning bag of dog shit lol
Each to their own I guess
