we got the livestrong yellow rubber band
we got the nike stand up speak up black and white rubber band
we got the livestock blue band
now they got cruelty to animals rubber band
i thought i wear my yellow band,,, show i gave a little..but now every tom dick and harry have got them... has anyone brought one.. what do people think.. is it a good ideal?
I have a red one - Justice for the 96, its a Hillsborough disaster one. At first I thought people were just trying to be trendy and showing off but then I realised that the recipients of charity are not interested in the intentions of the donor, just the aid itself. So yes, a good thing especially if it encourages people who wouldnt normally donate to charity to do so
I think anything is good if it brings an important issue to peoples minds. A lot of school children have been wearing blue ones to stand against bullying which can only ever be a good thing, and if they start a discussion and raise awareness then I completely agree with them. In the end they can't harm anyone either so why not!

Mattmoleman has a point there, a pupil attending a school near us had the crap kicked out of him for wearing one, but who knows it may have happened anyway the thugs maybe just needed an excuse.
I dont really no about this one so I may speak in ignorance so please forgive me. I think whoever came up with the idea of the bands may have thought it was a good idea but it seems they have become a bit of a fashion thing. I'm not sure whether simply wearing an anti bullying band for example will draw peoples attention to the fact something should be done about that cause, I think the media could do a better job of it, if they were not to preoccupied with other things that we honestly couldn't give a toss about.
Charities have given out badges, stickers etc. for donating for a long time and I think it is an extension of that but somehow it does seem the fashion people have cottoned on to something, but that may not be such a bad thing.
I think if you really believe these bands are a good idea you should ensure you buy them from a reputable seller as I have heard of quite a few that I believe were not authentic which is where the fashion idea comes into question.
I agree that fashion is taking it over. Why oh why can you buy them on EBay? Isn't that taking the charity out of it and making it into a commercialised area?
quick point these bands cost one pound each with i think its like 50-60p going to the charities.. the rest of the money goes towards making them, getting to shop, bah bah any left over will go to the charites...
but cause soon as they come in the shop, they go like hotcakes... people started to put them on ebay...ive seen one the band go for 30 quid... whos the mug,,..
i think its a good ideal to make money...but its stuped.. the 30 quid for a rubber band...

You couldn't invent stuff like this! I heard on the radio t'other day that one charity had to flood eBay with their bands to thwart the people selling them on for profit. It stopped the higher priced one's selling and made sure the charity (Oxfam I think) got the money.
I'm such a fashion victim, mine wasn't even for a good cause!
