Hi, ne1 got a solution to make my belkin wireless router sugestions graefully received.
as in what type on encryption to use?
i have mine set to WEP128 open system using a 16 digit code.
If your router supports it use wpa or better still wpa-psk.
Wep can be cracked fairly quickly with a packet sniffer where as wpa cant.
Hi, many thanks for your solution it worked fine, rgds, Dirk.

Drill four holes in the bottom of the case and screw it to a floorboard. Then surround it with barbed wire.
That should stop anybody but an experienced thief taking it.
I guess that method would make most household items secure.
bolt
If you can (and most Belkins can) use WPA2-PSK and not WPA-TKIP or WEP, both TKIP and WEP can be bypassed in a matter of minutes. WPA-PSK is a good compromise but WPA2-PSK deff the way to go smile
I tried to get my wifi secure... but have never been able to work out how to...
but have decided that since my wifi reception only works in 4 rooms - due to the fact that we have 3ft wide stone walls and i cant even use my laptop in the garden i am fairly safe.

don't take that for granted, with a good directional aerial someone could steal your bandwidth and you are responsible for securing your network, if they do anything illegal on it its down to you
oh no
i shall have to find out what i do!!!
depending on model used

oh and by the way those that do have routers be aware of this info its worth a read
