I'm one of them ones that are terrible with subtitled films :undecided:
Tend to read the words, then think, ok, read that bit, what're they doing, then look at the picture to see what's happening, by that time I've missed a crucial bit, specially when they start talking fast
Then too busy watching the film and not reading the words, and then it's all Oooh oooh, hold on, go back a bit, I missed that bit, what did she say :confused:
Admittedly, it's been years since I've tried watching a subtitled film should try it again.
With a good book, I get absolutely absorbed in it, totally enter another world when I open it up, then get disappointed when I see the film and it's not as powerful as how I imagined things. If I watch a good film where I've not read the book, again I get utterly absorbed into it, then struggle to read the book afterwards, cos it's not the same story and can't figure out where I am. So having that half and half thing - the film and the words together .......... dunno, previously, it's lost something for me.
I really should try it again tho - it all sounds so cultured and flippin eck you clever sod, when I hear of people not only going to these films, but enjoying em too!
If I see it, then I'm gonna give this a try

I like subtitled films having watched Japanese and Hong Kong movies for about 14 years, although it does help that I can speak Japanese to a small degree, and with Hong Kong movies you get the jist just by looking at the faces....

The trick is to not to concentrate too much on either (well it works for me atleast :lol: )
