The question is, have any of you tried them and know if they work?

The question is, have any of you tried them and know if they work?

I take them along with Mefanemic Acid, they haven't worked a huge amount for me but I do know a couple of others who have tried them and they have worked.
I'm no expert but if you have questions and want to chat pm me.

Mefenamic Acid is a painkiller/anti inflamatory.
I've tried loads of things and eventually had a Mirena fitted although I'm led to believe the injections do the same and it has reduced my bleeding a fair bit but has bought other problems
Hope they do work Dawn :therethere: (why don't we have a plain and simply hug emoticon???)

Does it work?
Yes. About 6 out of 10 women who take tranexamic acid get lighter periods.1 This drug works better than nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and some treatments that affect the level of hormones in your body.
But, unlike NSAIDs, tranexamic acid will not relieve any pain you get with your periods.

Didn't work for me, Dawn. Got a Mirena fitted now and that doesn't stop periods for me, but I know of women who have Mirena and no periods. Ever. Not even spotting.

OMW Calista have you been back to the doctor's? That doesn't sound normal![]()
It took about 8 weeks for me to stop having one day on/one day off but I do have a regular, light cycle now.

I take both tranexamic acid and mefanamic acid. The mefanamic helps a bit with the pain but not the heaviness, and the tranexamic does help with the flow but doesn't touch the pain at all. Apparently dentists give tranexamic acid to patients who bleed profusely after a tooth extraction and it thickens the blood so that it doesn't flow so easily.
I'm still having problems though and am booked to have a hysterectomy in the next few weeks. Drastic I know, but I'm a bit of an odd bod so they can't offer me any other help.
Don't know whether your doc has mentioned this Dawn, but you're only supposed to take the tranexamic acid for 3 days at a time. Which is fine for the first 3 days but then everything goes back to normal after thatWho'd be a woman eh?
