Did anybody see the show about curing sex addiction last night?
I thought it was okay, and reasonable enough, until the very end when Dr Doug pronounced England as the worst country for sexual addictions, followed by European bourjoise.
I don't objectify, do you?
by worst does that mean we have the most sex addicts?
i'd love to be addicted to sex,not just the thought if it rolleyes

Apparently.
Sexual addiction was described as objectifying your partner, and having no relationship with the other person, except to get off. It includes phone sex, internet sex, and physical sex. It could be anybody or anything that will cure the addicts need for release. Dr Doug kept relating it to the same as being an alcoholic.
Just spent 10 mins trying to get my head round that definition of Sexual Addiction.
It appears to me that it really doesn't describe the ADDICTION part.
Surely to become addicted to something it has got to be something that you imagine you can't either mentally (ie smoking) or physically (ie drugs) live without. It has also to a lesser or greater extent cause you to modify your lifestyle in a detrimental way.
I can't see that going out occassionally dogging and having a bit of selfish sexual gratification makes you an addict.
How many times an hour do I have to w**k to become an addict ??
The guy in this show was abused when he was little, so he couldn't be emotional with anybody, and only had sex with his wife 7 times in 6 years, but he was spending between $200-1200 a month on chat lines, and he would visit women he met on the net for quickies regularly. He wanked 4 - 6 times a day.
He was told he couldn't even masturbate anymore, and should only have sex with his wife, whom he reconnected with again, because it would set him off like an alcoholic having just one drink.
Regretably I didn't see the programme ??
What was the guys wifes part in this ??
They anly had sex 7 times in 6 years. Was that because HE didn't want it, or SHE didn't want it. If she did want it what did she do towards encouraging him to have sex with her. ??
I did watch most of it - thought it was ok.
The guy definately had a few emotion issues but thought his wife was nice and attractive!
I didn't realise that it was on, pity as I'd have liked to see it. Is it repeated?
I was treated for CSB (Compulsive Sexual Behaviour (hypersexuality/sexual addiction/whatever)) for several years.
Was it a one-off or is it part of a series?

The guys wife had given him the ultimatum when she found some of his phone bills and things. She had to get out her anger, and they had to learn how to reconnect again, and he wanted to save his marriage. She made out a list of rules he had to follow, and punishments if he strayed, and he had to take polygraph test every 6 months.
They didn't have sex because he didn't want to, so she thought there was something wrong with her, and had a breast op. She was very pretty, fit, well dressed and clearly adored him.
She just went along with it, but didn't know what to do. He works away 4 nights out of the week, and maybe he just used the too tired card. Once you get out of the habit....or never get into it in their case.
My name is Blue and I am a sex addict lol
Actually.... before anyone berates me for taking the mick out of a serious topic, I do know it's a serious topic for a lot of people. Wish I'd see the programme. I think i have some literature about it somewhere maybe confused

Hi Emily;
Hopefully they'll repeat it, as they always do with that kind of subject matter. Maybe keep an eye on Satellite too.
If you went to this guy's treatment centre, you wouldn't be on this site right now or he would consider you still addicted. I suppose there's different degrees and problems with SA.
Anyway if I see it come up again, I'll post it ahead of time.
Did anybody see part 4 of the series last night? Isn't that what happened to Michael Hutchinson?
That was bloody scary...
Me and she who must be obeyed watched it for about 5 mins and both felt very uncomfortable with it so switched over and watched CSI
Brian Ferry sang that "sex is drug".........he was right, thankfully

Isn't it addiction when you can't function 'normally '(it adversely affects your working and social life) because it takes over and controls you? That's different from being incredibly randy and enjoying different sexual partners.

No objections, but is worst the right word, best would be better. After all if I have an addiction it's SEX!!
Phew im not a sex addict then
I just like sex
Bi-Guy-Notts
There's got to be a simple test for a sex addict.
If youve ever been offered sex and said 'No Thanks' you can't possibly be an addict
 Give me time, I'll remember when it was.
