Shirt and tie to go with suit,what colour i go for??

Hi all
bit of fun question.
As i never wear a suit unless going to wedding,funeral etc.I would like some advice from all you fashionable people smile

I have purchased a nice light weight suit, sort of very light colours do you ladies think would look good? and guys who wear suits,shirt combos any good combninations please.
The event it will be worn for is a stag day out at chester races(so i obviously want to be looking good)

Light purple or lilac shirt with a darker purple tie :smug:

Any light colour shirt ( though not white ) with a contrasting colour tie :thumbup:
steer clear of:
striped shirts with white collars and cuffs
'old school' ties
dark shirts with a light coloured suit
anything brown confused

I was thinking more . . . .
Lemon yellow shirt with fluffy, ruffle type cuffs below the jacket sleeve and perhaps a salmon pink tie. Or maybe even a cravat.

IMO men should NEVER be allowed to wear pink shirts, it is just so wrong........

Pink will go well, depending on the tie you match with it.
as it's a fun day out, you don't want to look stuffy, so your tie will be your personality. Don't wear something that was a novelty christmas gift or looks like it came out of a charity shop. Colourful and silk. If you haven't yet bought the shirt and tie, don't buy them as a set, but pay at least as much for your tie as you do for your shirt.
and no white socks!!!!! :shock:

Light grey suit.......
Pastel pink shirt and tie...
Pale blue... with matching tie
Cream shirt with striking but conservative tie of any colour
Pale violet shirt with dark violet tie.
Hope that helps....

ok
it look like suit with sleeves rolled up,brown shirt with novelty xmas tie(simpsons or something) white socks and bit of stubble for don johnson look. I will be fighting the women off biggrin

I think you should go for pale purple/lilac with a dark purple tie.
Just for a laugh you could wear purple socks too! oh and dont forget the shades cool

Basic rule you could follow is - shirt a shade lighter than the suit, tie a shade darker than the suit. Both the same basic colour as each other. Socks same as the tie. Shoes a mid shade of grey or brown (at a pinch) Never EVER blue or black shoes with light grey.
