There are a few ways to look at short replies....
(and I am not talking about "Hi I am xxxxxxxx , do you shag?")
there may be a valid/innocent reason why the reply is short.
May be they don't want to sound like they are blowing their own trumpet...
May be they are just pants at small talk and find the breaking the ice part uncomfortable...
May be they just want to test the water before opening up...
May be they are at work and sneaking a quick reply in whist the boss is busy...
I see nothing wrong in short replies as long as they don't contain certain phrases.

BTW I amNOTonly talking about single guys with this one. I find married women looking to palm their hubby off to be just as bad as the singles.
I admit I quite often send short replies as I am often doing more than one thing at the time.
I have met some really fun couples and singles where our intial PM's were rather limited in content.
But some phrases in short replies just make my hand head for the delete button.

But I agree with some others on here... it shows a complete lack of effort that usually reflects on what's to come... and puts us right off. The best are the 'cut and paste' jobs from other ads. and replies.. I've been called everything from Angela to Doris before now and had answers to questions I hadn't even asked... :shock:

I am not so sure that just because a reply is short - this actually does mean person/people will turn out to be a rather disappointing encounter.
As it has just been pointed out - it is easy for someone to prepare a detailed reply to send and then just cut and paste it to all and sundry.
